Wheel spacers for more aggressive stance?

Just did a 3" lift with 285 70 17 tires on my 1999 Reg. Cab Taco, I am loving it. There is only one thing i'd change right now that I think would give me a more aggressive look and hopefully add more stability. I'm thinking of doing a pretty thick spacer to make my wheel and tire assembly stick out the side more, that way I could do some nice looking fender flares and they wouldn't look goofy.

My concern is that this would cause excess wear on wheel bearing and other mechanical components, what do you think? I will post pics soon so you can see what I mean...

With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine.

Spacers increase the moment leverage on the bearings. That being said, many people have/are running them without issue.
