Light racing control arms

I was looking at wheelers offroad and I came across these. They are cheaper than the total chaos UCAs and these don't need to be rebuilt. They say they can help with the alignment issues that come from lifting tacomas. what do u guys think about them?

I have them on my truck and like them just fine. ToyTec actually says they're better than the lauded TC UCA's.

uhhhhh......... those don't even have uniball joints, mi amigo. Those are some bent tubing with stock style joints. Explain how that is better.....

Check out TC or camburg's websites and look at the joints and see for yourself which one is better.

Man, bad idea!!! There's a reason they're waay cheaper, because they are a different material, and don't even utilize a uniball, do your homework on tc & camburg, there's a reason serious off road trucks use them

im not knocking the light racing products, just stating the facts... the uniball will give you a greater range of motion (even if it's noisy), and the camburg/tc products aren't built from cast materials, half of that uca is cast which wont flex one bit, it'll just snap!

Tacoma's, FJ's, and 4Runner's run out of factory adjustment when you install lift kits. With our patent pending design this upper control arm provides an additional ±2° of caster and 0° to +5° of camber change. Built with an OE style ball joint and bushings, this arm is designed to correct alignment angles while maintaining factory ride quality. The hybrid tubular and forged steel design is tough enough to race - on or off-road. These remove and replace arms are available in pairs for lifted and off-road applications or individual left and right arms if just one corner needs adjustment.

Give me a break, forged is the same thing.. the metals been heated and melted together for form, its not going to be close to the same strength as a solid tube design, it also has no gussets @ the mounting locations

And i guess just because they state its "tough enough to race" must mean it is.. Using a balljoint for HIGH PERFORMANCE off-roading has bad new written all over it! But like you stated earlier, for 90% of the mall crawler's it'll work fine

What arms did MJP2 SNAP IN HALF, was it these or all-pro's??

Forged and cast is the same thing?? I think not.

Here is some more info about these:

• Our Upper Control Arms were designed work with a wide range of coilover shocks; from the stock Toyota units to long travel aftermarket shocks similar to the Light Racing or Icon units. This includes shocks that allow for a slight increase in droop travel.
• The increased travel was accommodated by using a ball joint with a higher range of travel. The stock Toyota ball joint has a 77° included angle (or 38.5° off centerline). Our design allows for a 90° included angle (or 45 ° off centerline. A spherical bearing (monoball) with high angularity inserts rarely has more than a 35° included angle. The angle of the ball joint plate is optimized for this increased ball joint travel.
• The sliding off-set ball joint that we use allows for a huge range of alignment adjustment rather than designing an arm with a static off-set and relying on the Lower Control Arm cam bolts for adjustment. This means the camber of our arm can be adjusted to the stock upper control arm geometry or it can be adjusted for proper camber in a 4” lifted vehicle. The caster can also be adjusted from stock numbers up to a 4° increase in caster for better high speed stability.
• Using a standard ball joint (instead of a monoball) and molded rubber inner pivots (instead of urethane) gives better ride quality, better longevity, lower maintenance, and quiet operation.
• We as a company have 30 years experience designing ball joints for aftermarket and OEM use. The design and quality of the ball joints used on these arms is top notch.
• Our arms are coated using E-coating. This is a process where the coating is electro-statically grown on the part. This is used for many OEM suspension components and gives superior corrosion protection to zinc plating, paint, or powdercoating.

Some of us are.. i just dont understand why you wouldn't spend the extra $75 and get a part that doesn't have all the same characteristics as your stock piece

Neubs... i'm not trying to upset you or knock your parts, light racing stuff is an upgrade from stock, yes... but its still not the same as a beefy camburg arm, and i'm not going to sit in here and see who can piss longer, the facts are just that, its nice they put all their specs online, i understand it works better than stock, but its still not going to have the strength or tavel of a camburg uni-ball arm

Thanks for all the info guys. My main concerns are: getting a quality part that won't break. I'm not doing any hard-core off roading, but I don't want something that is just for looks. (unfortunately thats the setup I have now) My other concern is durabilitry and maintainence of the parts. I know that TC UCAs are great quality, but their web site says that they have to be rebuilt periodically. I want something that I don't have to mess with after installation.

TC & Camburgs stuff is about the same, both will need a "rebuild" if thrashed on, if your not going beat on the truck they should be fine, and by rebuild they mean replace bushing's and possibly the uniball.. Check out camburgs, they're 75 bux more than light racing and a far better peice
