Mods for a 1999 PreRunner

I'm new on here and this is my 1st post. I have a 1999 PreRunner V6 than I want to do a few mods to. My truck is a daily driver, but I also do a good bit of trail riding. I wanted to know what advice y'all have for me.

- 3" suspension lift, something smooth for riding trails, I'm trying to avoid blocks in the rear
- cold air intake, what brand and model
- exhaust, I want something that will increase performance but not sound like a 4banger

I want to know where I can find the best prices on these items as well.

Thanks

2. Cut a hole in your airbox instead.

Haha... How well said.

1. OME full lift kit or Bilstein 5100's (search em up)
2. As mentioned cut a hole in your airbox via the Deck Plate Mod (search)
3. No idea. Check the 1st gen section for some threads on this.

Cheers.

I've done a good bit of research on both, the 5100's and the OME, but which would you prefer? I'll search the deck plate mod

I am definitely doing the deck plate mod within the next few days. Thanks for showing me that.
I don't have any major mods to it... The only things that I have done since I've owned it, chrome brush guard, 31" buckshots, toolbox, cb/ pa speaker, and k&n air filter.

So on the 5100's, it will add roughly 2.5" to the front but 0" to the back, correct?

Okay...well, I'll disagree. OP: The deckplate mod by itself, w/o anything else, should increase performance and sound.

There's a sticky (thread) in the 1st Gen section titled "DIY mods for the 95-04..." and another one titled "neat link from another site". Those will get you going w/ideas on how to mod your truck.

Good luck, and keep us posted on your progress.

Another question, where is the best/ cheapest place to order tires and rims. I'm looking for 15"-17" rims and roughly 32-33" tires, good A/Ts like pro comp Xtreme ATs or similar tires. Thanks

Tirerack usually has pretty good deals on rim and tire combos plus they mount and balance them for you and shipping isnt to bad either! Suspension wise i say go for the Billy 5100's! They ride very smooth on and off road. The DP mod is a good one to as it only costs about 10 bucks and you already have a K&N filter.

nice ride 01tacoma... what brand sells the best 3" leaf packs for the money? Most I see are around $350 or $500 with bilsteins. I don't want to spend a ton of money on lift, but I also want it to ride fairly smooth off road. I was thinking about leaf packs in the rear and 5100's with eibach coilsin the front. With that, would I be able to clear 285/75/16 on 16x8s with 4.5" BS with no rubbing?

Honestly man idk i came across a group buy on here through all-pro selling the expo leafs for around 269 i believe but dont know when they will ever do another one again, but i wish they would, thats the only thing i am waiting on! I will say though that the 5100's and eibachs are simply awesome, I am also not sure about the 285's cause im runnin 265's but plan to goto a 285 in the future and yes the 16x8 should fit as that is the rim i have!

with 3" an under you should not have to replace the UCA's all though i am going to down the road just to get my caster in spec. but you dont have to worry about that alignment as much as others. so its no biggie

Thanks man. Yea I wish I coul get them for 269, that'd be sweet! Where'd be the cheapest place to get the 5100's and eibach's? And which eibach's do I need? If you don't mind, a part number or something would be handy

order the 5100's from DSM and i ordered the eibach's from toytec but if you can find them anywere cheaper go for it, i paid 175 for the coils including shipping and 175 for the 5100's free shipping.

Thanks for the input... And if you had bout $2k to spend on a stock truck, what would you all do, what set up? Performance wise, lift, tires and rims, looks, etc. I'm going to try and find tires and maybe rims used.
