I have read a bunch of posts on what peope have done and looked at thier builds, but I still have no idea what a good set up looks like for a prerunner. I want something that wont give me problems while keeping it under $500ish. anything would really help. thanks!

Setup for a prerunner will be the same as 4x4. For the most part. Except you can do spindle lifts... That's going to be out of your price range though.

Go for bilstein 5100's all around. U can set the front to 2.5 and hey an add a leaf.

Or check out Old Man Emu lifts. You'll be able to get a full 3 inches with that lift. But might exceed your price range. Think of the possibility of getting new upper control arms when u get to 3 inches of lift.

OR... Get a 3 inch spacer lift. Cheap. Lifts your truck. You'll sacrifice some ride quality tho.

    Keep searching you'll find something...

Go for bilstein 5100's all the way around.

    Set the front to 2.5.

Get a 1.5 or 2 inch AAL for the back.

U won't NEED new uca's. 1.5 inches of lift is about as high as you go before you should get new ucas. Alignment still gets in/close to spec at 2.5.

You won't get more then 2.5 inches with 5100's. You'll be fine with no new ucas at that.

I'd assume 3 inch lift is 3 inch lift, so yah new ucas are reccomended at that point. Some people do, some people don't. Depends how well u want your alignment is spec.

You can go 1.5 or 2 inch Add a leaf. Stay away from blocks.

I have about 2.5 up front and went with 2 inch AAL. I think it looks great this way. But if u want less rake and more level go with 1.5 AAL.

If u get an aftermarket wheel with backspacing of 4.5 you can fit 285/70/17 or 285/75/16. (same size different wheel size)

Even with this you'll have to do some plastic fender and mud flap trimming. Or get wheel spacers.
    Or stay with 265/75/16.

285/75/16 and 285/70/17 are not the same size. The 285/75 will be bigger!

Nothing wrong with a small block. I ran a 2 inch Deaver pack and a 1.5 inch block for 3 years on my previous truck with no problems.

    They are pretty close.

    Original tire
    Sidewall: 8.42 in
    Radius: 16.42 in
    Diameter: 32.83 in
    Circumf: 103.14 in
    Revs/mile: 614.31

    New Tire
    Sidewall: 7.85 in
    Radius: 16.35 in
    Diameter: 32.71 in
    Circumf: 102.76 in
    Revs/mile: 616.60

Speedometer reading with new tire is 0.37% too fast.
When your speedometer is reading 60mph you are actually traveling 59.78mph.
