Why eibach with billys work but 885's and billys won't?

Why can't I set my Billy at .85 and use 884 or 885? I know you shouldn't do it but why can eibach springs be set at .85? What is the worst thing that can happen if set at .85? Would the little locking c clip break?

 

Eibach's aren't as tall as the OME coils. There was a thread about this recently and Chris asked Toytec about why they're telling people you can't run OME's on 5100's. The end result was basically because it hadn't been officially tested and neither manufacturer would honor their warranties if you mixed their product with the other.

 

But it might work just not advise by the manufacture. I was thinking of adding 885's and welding the bottom plate to secure the springs at .85

How much lift are you trying to get? The OME coil will give you 2" itself vs 1.6 from the Eibach coil. If you put the 5100's at .85, you're getting into the territory where you'd need new UCA's. Why not just get the OME's with their shocks? Then you can get the plate spacer and you'd be at 3" up front.

 

885 springs alone give only 2 inch of lift. The spacer give another 3/4. And with the 5100 set at .85 will give 3.5 inch of lift. But I read the shock won't have any down travel. I can do it without the top spacer but it will come out to the same height. And if I choose this option I need new uca's with cost 600 and the new springs 170. I'll just wait and do spindles.
