OME lift vibration prevention for rear

I'm thinking about getting the OME 885's w/ driver side trim packer no top spacer, no diff drop & rear 2" non TSB AAL. I was also going to get the carrier bearing drop. Would it be a good idea to get the 3 degree axle shims as well.

 

Depends. Every truck is different. I probably need some shims. I have minor vibes from 55-60mph and a takeoff shudder with the 2" AAL and CB drop.

Where do you get the stuff to do a carrier bearing drop.

 

Here I first installed the axle shims when I installed the lift, which gave me a slight vibration mostly at takeoff. Then I installed the carrier bearing drop as well which made my vibration worse. So I just took it back out leaving only the shim. My next step when I have the time is to remove the shim & drive it without any drive line adjustments. If that is not vibration free I will try the Carrier bearing drop alone. If that doesn't do it I'll go back to just the shims.
Which is fairly smooth. I just want to find the best possible ride.

 

Thanks for the link has anyone used the shims with the 2" inch add a leaf I was wondering which ones to get and where, I wish I would have found all this stuff before I did the lift I don't think I can do the shims myself. On another note if your stumbling across this while researching lifts you might want to think about doing the shims with your lift you might save some money.

 

If you get shims get them after everything is buttoned up. When I got my 2" aal I didn't have any take off vibes at all, but now that I'm throwing in some 1.25" shackles I'll be installing beefed tacos 2 3/8" carrier bearing drop just to be safe. If you don't have vibes and you shim it you will probably end up with vibes

 

Right now I got vibes at take off and mid 20ish I haven't done the carrier bearing drop yet I ordered the ome ones last night are those ones any good but anyways I'll try those first before I do the shim thing.

 

i have an08 sport i replaced the carrier bearing because it was shot ive tried the drop kit what i ended up doing is tack welding some steel on the backside of the cb so my carrier matched the angle of the driveline then u can space it as needed i also pulled my driveline and had it balanced the tech said it was bouncin pretty good note tack weld it so if it doesnt work u can take it off easily i was running blocks but i did not like the feel so im running 2in aals i hope this helps alot of you its a frustating process for sure

 

OK yesterday I removed the shims and put the carrier bearing drop back on. Problem solved, my truck is vibration free. With the just shims I had slight vibes, but when my truck was loaded they got worse. I guess the shims are for rear lifts higher than 2" like the Dakars. I'll be selling my shims. I'm just so happy to have a smooth riding truck again. Hopefully I'll get my wheels(DC-2s) and tires(285 Hankooks) installed Tuesday
