i would, but i'm not replacing them , i'm just disconnecting them so i can fit the shock w/ spacers, so i need the oem uca still, and if i destroy the threads, then i'll be up a creek....

Ok. Then use a Ball joint puller, or a Pickle fork. Tap it in between the balljoint, and the top of the spindle, and it will pop right off.

A pickle fork may damage the boot if one is not careful.

even with the ball joint remover, it took a lot of good whacks from a mallet to separate it, i put a pick of the overall stance in the live thread. ill try to get a couple more later

so the front bushing on my drivers side UCA mushroomed out from being over greased, took it apart today to reseat it but it is permanantly deformed. i already ordered a new one fro TC and its on the way. my issue was i was not able to get the through bolt back out past the fuel lines, any ideas to help make this easier for when i replace the bushing?

yeah it just seemed like it would need alot more pressure on the lines to get the bolt back out than it did to get it in. but i guess i found the bushing to be deformed before the bolt came all the way out so i knew it had to be replaced anyway, so i figured i'd save that can of worms for when i actually replace the bushing this weekend, and just reassembled everything. was just trying to see if there was a specific trick to it or just the standard be carefull and it will come eventually with a little coaxing and frustration

okay, i am hung up. i can't gey the drivers side uca bolt to budge. head keeps dancing around the fuel lines. have tried taping with 3/8 extension, took spanner wrench, put behind and beat it. have put another shorter bolt in opposite side to keep it from binding up. i have passanger side done, and icons in. i have been fooling with this damn bolt for 1.5 hours now, need help.

Patience. It will go. You have to get it lined up perfectly. Wiggle the UCA, while pushing in the UCA bolt.

X2 and if you have another set of hands have them wiggle the fuel lines a little. I think if I remember there is a bolt you can take off the fuel lines to give you a tiny bit more play. Either a bolt or a clip.

finally got it, i just pulled on the lines and got it to spin in there. i just have to go torque everything now. will do rear later today. i feel like it is down hill from here.
i was holding my breath when i put he nut on that bolt, i was scared i might have stripped it. that would have been a nightmare, might have had to trade the truck for a mini-van.

It helped me to use a crow bar and apply a slight amount of pressure to the fuel lines moving them toward me. That allowed me to align the bolt so it wouldn't bind. It still took a little work but it went in. Just keep trying.

There's no trick. Just pull the fuel lines a little (not enough to do damage) and it will come out. It's a pain in the ass but it will come. Allow yourself plenty of time and know ahead of time that you'll get pretty frustrated and you should be ok.
