Yep, if you get an extended-travel setup without limiting straps you can definitely mess up your ball joints.

Sorry to have this end up in a drawn out discussion I just find that my spacer lift rides just like stock. I was made aware of the limitations and disadvantages months before installing the lift thanks to KPT and others on this board who facilitate truthful unbiased info.

    Thank you KPT.

I'm glad I didn't go right out and buy a lift kit...I probably would have bought a spacer lift if I did, that or a body lift. My cousin just bought a Tacoma, and unfortunately it has a Revtek spacer lift...idk what's going to happen in the future with that :(.

This thread is a Fail! lol. I still have a spacer, plus 5100's and TSB recently. "Do it right the first time" this is an absurd statement. Your so lowly and unworthy if you purchased a full 3" suspension first, and a failure if you bought a spacer? ..........sounds ridiculous to me. I say go with what best suits your needs and what you can afford. If anything is lame it would be a body lift, wouldn't it? what is worse a 3" lift with spacers or 3" body lift? Another thing, a lot of 6" guys have lift blocks, what about that?

For me it wasn't just a usage thing. I understand It if you like the look of a lifted truck and what not, and it's fine for light offloading, but for me I just couldn't stand knowing i was being held up by a chunk of polyurethane when I could be running high quality shocks and springs. I don't think you're "lowly or unworthy" if you run one, but I will probably think 1) you're cheap 2) you don't need the reassurance of coilovers (totally okay) or 3) you didn't really know know what you were buying or bought the truck that way. Now that's all based off assumptions and all three of those scenarios are FINE BY ME. It's your truck not mine.

Still sounds narrow minded to me. Either way I say one is more for looks rather than performance. I do agree performance wise one definitely differs from the other. No doubt about it.

Don't get how that's narrow minded, I think we're saying pretty similar things

uuuuhh yaaa. How else you gonna change your oil? Also there is no need for shocks either, you get more of a "Gangster" ride without them and Horsepower.

I've been talking to toytec and they assure me their spacers don't make the ride rough because they use a larger above the plate spacer and smaller in coil as well as an add a leaf instead of block for the rear lift. Who has this lift, are you happy with it? Thanks.

Any time you compress the coil you make the ride stiffer. It's impossible not to do so....

True, let me rephrase - they aren't supposed to make the ride "very" rough which is of course up to interpretation.

i got about 1000-1500 mile since the spacer lift and im happy with it, considering my truck only sees the dirt a few times a year its a good set up for me
