Expedition leaves and shackles

I realized I was crowding up another thread trying to find an answer to this issue so I thought I would make my own thread.

I'd like to run the allpro expedition leaf pack soon and I want some greaseable shackles as well. I could buy oem length greaseable ones from wheelers for 100 something bucks but I'd rather keep what I can keep and replace what I have to replace.

The allpro expedition "kit" includes bushings for the expos so I was thinking I could just purchase the greaseable shackle bolts they sell and use those combined with the expo bushings on my stock shackles.

I contacted allpro about this and I don't think they understood what I meant, they said something along the lines of "all of our shackles are greaseable, no need to buy the bolts something something something". I just sent another email to give a little clarification and I hope to get an answer soon, but until then what do you guys think? Anyone know if this will work?

No the stock shackles have the bolts welded to one of the arms. At least that is the way they are on mine. I bought the lift shackles from wheelers and started to install them before I realized I HAD to remove the old bushings in order for the new greable bolts to work and I don't have the time to burn those out so they are sitting in the garage for now.

I'd like to know this too. That leaf pack alone is quite a bit of money. I would like to use whatever I can, my truck only has 76k.

So you're saying that the bolt itself was welded to the shackle arm?

yep.....
stock shackles have both bolts welded to the arms so you will need to replace the whole thing if you want greaseable bolts. Like I said I have a kit from wheelers so I know. Let me know if you need an other advice on these.

Serviceability mainly but at this put I really don't give a shit, I've sent too many emails and spent way too much time trying to figure this out so I think for now I'm just keeping my stock shackles and lubing the hell out of the bushings when I do my spring install.

main difference is that greaseable bolts are hollow therefore they are bigger in diameter than the stock bolts. then the leafs themselves have steel bushings in them that is not big enough for the greaseable bolts to fit through. You will need to remove the stock bushings by burning them out and using the poly bushings that come with the new shackle kit.
