I just had the TSB done along with 5100's to level my truck done last weekend. I'm also getting the same vibrations as the OP. They are very subtle and only happen when starting to move forward for about a second or two. At least I think I'm getting them...sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't. I'm going to drive around today and we'll see if my wife can feel them too.

Since I think I feel them sometimes and other times there's nothing, I'm wondering if it's just due to the roads up here. Not the greatest roads in the world due to all the snow plowing, salt, etc every winter.

But if what I'm feeling is carrier bearing vibes, will this cause damage to anything on the drivetrain of my truck? If not, then I'm not going to worry about it as it doesn't really bug me (to be honest I think it's always been there since I bought it brand new) but if it's going to screw something up then I definitely want to get it fixed.

I had read that on here, but then again I could have misread what they were talking about.

I will pick up the Diff. Kit and see if that does anything. The shutter/vibe is very rare and brief when it happens. I took some pics of the rear and threw a socket on the U-bolts just to snug them abit more to play it safe.

Tomorrow I go back for the re-alignment, hope they get it correct this time, since its a PITA to reinstall the old wheels everytime to get this done.

    Thx

OP, I did the same thing and have the same results (1.5" AAL and now that same shutter you're describing). I'm going to try shims, then the CB drop kit. I did a lot of searching and it appears people are having better success with shims than the CB drop kit. Both are cheap, the CB drop is easier to install though.

Where would you pick the shims up at, and is there a How-To-Install guide somewhere..same for the CB Kit.

    Thx

The shims can be bought at Toytec as well as the CB drop , buy them both and save on shipping :)

Plus there is a Tacomaworld discount code , it can be found @ the Toytec section of the vendor's area .

maybe you installed the AAL pointing the wrong direction.

i think your suppose to put the longer side pointing to the rear

and the shorter end pointing to the front.

Thought about that, but both sides were equal from the mounting point.
I think Toytec made them like this so no one would install backwards.

The shims are those Zinc 3 degree axle shims that you are all talking about. What exactly to they do and where do they go?
Same for the CB drop kit, never seen an install on these.

    Thx

You should not randomly install shims. On a 2 piece shaft like the factory shaft you want the axle to be at the same angle as the transmission output. You want them parallel to one another. On a double cardan one piece shaft you want the axle to be pointed directly at the drive shaft. You need to mesure to see what angle changes you do or do not need and apply a shim accordingly. Unless your springs changed the axle angle a shim can only harm things. A carrier bearing drop on the other hand accounts for the steeper angel the drive shaft is at. This is what you will definantly want and need. Under acceleration you may be pitching your axle up a degree or two from torque and casusing a vibration related to the angle being too high on your axle under acceleration. If this is the case a shim to increase its angle would be detrimental, and the opposite of what you want. The negative of this vibration is a decrease in CV life on your drive shaft as it is operating at an ohter than optimal angle. Forgive my typos.

    Agreed ^^^^

Start with the OME CB drop , you really don't need a install thread to look at , it comes with instructions , but literally all there is to it is to undo one of the stock CB bolts , install drop washer , replace stock bolt with provided longer bolt .

Repeat for the other side .

This is a 10 minute job tops .

Not sure that this will come across , but I took a picture of the instructions that come with the OME CB drop .

I will measure it tomorrow and see if it's correct, but would it be a major problem if the longer end is facing forward and it's say less then an inch longer facing that way?

    Thx

I wanted the back end to be slightly higher then the front so when I haul/tow things, it doesn't drop down below the height of the front end.
Seen many people on here do it, but if it causes issues, I can always remove it.

The front is set at 0 with the OME 884 coil installed.

Just came from the Goodyear place that did the initial alignment, and since all the managers decided to take the day off and the original tech said alignment was good the first time, I left and plan to take it to the dealership to get it aligned and have them look at the driveshaft.

    Thx

I looked at the rear leafs again and with the vehicle parked..I can grab the rear tire and rock it back and forth a few inches quite easily.
When I do this I notice the leafs flex back and forth/up and dowen just abit. I am guessing this is what I am feeling when I come to a stop and the truck rocks back and forth. It is just very slight and not alot of movement, but I am guessing this is what people refer to as that Axle Wrap thing.

Since it is just very slight, will it have any long term damage if left as is?
Should I remove the AAL and go back to the stock TSB where this was not an issue?

    Thx

This is some good info but I have a question, it seems that by installing a CB drop you're not screwing with 2 angles, the angle from the transmission output and then the angles between the 2-piece drive shaft. Why would you not want to leave the transmission output angle alone and just to the shims to rotate the axle back to it's original input angle? Seems like you'd bring in more variables with the CB drop vs the shims. Again, asking to get information because I don't know what the correct solution is and I'm in the same boat as the OP. Plus, from other threads I've read it seems there has been more success with the shims and lots of people who installed the CB drop and got absolutely no change in symptoms.
