5100's @2.5 only have 2" lift

Hey guys, new to the forum

Just installed the 5100's and set them at 2.5" , but the before and after measurements put me at 2.0"? I also seem to have that driver's side lean now as well. Do these OEM coils tend to sag over time? Truck is 2006 Prerunner with 65K miles.

If I have to upgrade the coils, what is my best option with the 5100's? I'd like to have a real 2.5" or 3" (with new UCA's)

Are you sure you put the coils back on the right side? The Tacoma coils are side specific. Just a thought.

 

with 65k on your coils, those should be okay

 

I had a shop do the lift for me, as I had the 1.5" AAL's installed as well. The difference between the right and left side is ~0.5", will swap the coils to see if that makes a difference. Thanks

 

Take a picture as well like vacountryboy said. That way we can tell if everything is seated properly.

 

x2...and if your gonna buy new coils just save your loot and get some OME 885s with new UCAs...they'll be fine at 2" for now

Hmmm are you SURE they set them at 2.5" instead of 1.75"?

 

I will get under there a bit later and take some pics. I counted 3 notches (from bottom to top) w/o the clip so I assumed the clip was on the 4th.

That's what I was thinking....mine are set at 1.75" and I got right at 2" of lift in the front.

Can't tell from the pics the OP posted a couple posts up exactly where they're set at. Maybe try to get a close up pic?

So if the stock springs are 886, why do people change them AND change the setting on the shock?

 

Assuming this is the highest I can go with the 5100's , what are my options? I don't want to break the bank, but I do want a level truck. I've read good things and bad about Toytec's ultimate lift ... but it would give the adjustment if this turns out to be bad coils. Any thoughts?

 

skirch, you mentioned that you now have the driver side lean too. Does this mean you gained the 2" on the drivers side, and have the expected 2.5" on the passenger side? This is the way mine was when I installed 5100's. I got only 2" on the driver side. I then, however, installed the toytec top plate spacer ($20) which gave me roughly 1/2" on the drivers side. I'm level now @ 2.5 on each side.

 

After another measurement, the passenger side is 1/4" higher than the driver's side. So, I'm not sure if that's really a lean or not? Neither side is at the specified 2.5" height. Tires are the stock 265/70/16

I have a noob question... where do you measure the front and back to see what your "lift" is? I'm still stock right now but I've heard that Tacomas can very. I'd like to know if my back end is higher than the front and if so how much higher.

 

You can measure from either the center, top or bottom of the rim to the fender. You can even measure from ground to fender if you have the same size tire after the lift.

There's a little thing called Toytec 1/4" top plate spacer to cure the well known 1/2" lean up front...........
