cv axle leaking. not from boot

I'll get pics tomorrow, the just of it is, I recently had my ome 882's put on and new front diff fluid, now about 2 weeks later my cv axle is leaking oil from where the boot meets the axle shaft.

Is this something I can fix without getting a new cv axle?

just to be clear, this is not a torn boot.

Possibly. I used to put RTV sealer around the inside edge of the boots when replacing them on other vehicles. Sort of as insurance that they would only leak if the boot got torn. Although this would require removing the axle and re-clamping the boot. But still cheaper than a new axle.

ok so I did some research today on the truck, i found for whatever reason the clip is just really loose, but a lot of grease has come out, so I'm going to have to re-grease it of course... what kinda of grease do I get? i was surprised at how thin the oil/ grease is that came out. it's not much thicker than engine oil, is that normal?
