Installed Lift

Here is a few pics of the lift I helped install today. It has a 2" AAL with OME N182 shocks in the rear & Bilstein 5100's set at 2.5" in the front with stock springs/UCA's. Rides great so far, will be putting new Nitto Terra Grapplers on tomorrow & getting alignment done!

getting ready to do the exact same thing to mine, can u let me know how the alignment goes with the billies at 2.5 with stock ucas .

 

Will do NC, it's in the shop right now, will know in a few hours. It seems just fine so far, and rides great. Once I get the new tires & alignment done I'm gonna take it on the highway to see how it does & will let ya know!

 

The truck rides good after the new Nittos were installed + alignment. The tires are noticably louder being A/T's but not to bad at all. It does not seem to wander to bad at 65 mph even with the stock UCA's but more time will tell. I'll most likely get aftermarket UCA's down the road once I can save up more money. I do not regret setting the Bilstein's at 2.5" and I think the stance is perfect with the 2" AAL. All together with the new tires installed it should be approx. 3" of lift since I got a size bigger then the stock 265/65/17's. Overall, I think it looks great and happy with it. I was a bit worried using the short AAL but it rides just as good as it did stock, not any stiffer IMO.

 

After Nittos Installed + AVS Ventshades. Turned out great.

Thanks! I think you will love it once you get it put on. Are you taking it somewhere or putting it on yourself? I had some help putting mine on, it was a good learning experience all the way around, and glad I was able to install a good bit of it. I know with the Bilsteins up front, the sway bar & skid plate needed to come off to make it easier putting the shocks back on. It took me and 2 other guys about 4 hrs total for the front/back shocks & leafs total so not bad. Being in a auto shop helped alot I must say! My g/f's family owns a shop so all the tools I needed were accessible. Good luck with your Lift NC!! Let me know how it goes! So far so good with mine, it rides great!

have you considered wheel spacers for a wider stance?

 

That's awesome NC, hope it all goes well! I have not thought much about wheel spacers since they are 265's, but who knows, I might eventually consider getting them. I do want to get 285's one day and would definitely consider them then. I think my 265/70/17's look good for now though. I am about to take a long trip on the highway, will see how it goes. I still have stock UCA's but around town it's fine.

 

yeah im runnig 265 70 17 's to i really hope it looks good , new tires plus i dont wana go any bigger bc its a 4 banger , kills the power,ive got eagle wheels though. which makes the tires rub when they didnt on stock wheels because of the offset. but the lift will fix that

 

After driving about 650 miles after install, and a lot on the highway I had no problems really with the stock UCA's with billies set at 2.5". The steering did feel a little looser at higher speeds but nothing serious that would require you to get aftermarket UCA's right away. It was not wandering all over the place like some have claimed but could vary from truck to truck as they say I guess. I do plan on getting them later on sometime. The billies ride great even at max height, and even though I was afraid the 2" AAL in the back would be very stiff, it's not at all and as good as stock if not better. I also put new OME shocks in the back so I'm sure that helps too. I do have a SLIGHT vibration between 20-30mph I can notice but it's not bad or annoying. I'm guessing that's due to the AAL in the rear. Anyhow, I love the lift & recommend it for others wanting to try the same set-up.

got mine installed today. looks shuge to me , wasnt expecting that much lift out of just 2.5 " in the front and 2" rear , rides good , lil of a shutter on take off, getting the alignment tommorow . the 265 70 17s look ok not to small .

 

Great! It does make quite a bit of difference even with 2.5" I agree. I only have a slight vibration around 20-30 mph but nothing serious. I am however going to get my tires re-balanced and the front end looked at when I return to the states because at highway speeds it vibrates a bit & the steering wheel moves back and forth a bit. In town it rides great, no problems whatsoever. I have lifetime balancing included with my tire purchase so I will take advantage of it. Also, I'm gonna add some aftermarket UCA's soon as I can because at times I did notice that the truck felt a bit unstable (nothing serious, just felt like high wind). I did not notice that right away even after driving 650 miles after getting the lift done at first, but did notice it later on. It's nothing major but something that I'm sure the UCA's would fix.

 

after the alignment no more take off shutter and no vibes at all as of yet. steering is a lil touchy not really what id call unstable , ill get some pics up this weekend some time
