    Not enough

Very likely a stupid question, but...

If we all are unable to replace the grease on a maintenance interval througha zerk fitting why not coat with a quality Anti-Seize compound instead ofgrease?

I will be using anti-seize, it only makes sense to me but i'll see how it holds up throughout the winter.

It's an interesting question. I read the MSDS for anti-sieze. From the look of it, it's 40-60% grease, 15-25% Calcium oxide, less than 10% graphite, and less than 10% aluminum oxide. Seems to me where that stuff shines is for threaded fasteners.

For this application I think it's hard to beat a quality wheel bearing grease.

Being a victim of the seized LCA bolts/cams, I took on the job of cutting the LCA's out of my truck and replacing the bushings. A while back Boyd had mentioned the Whiteline bushings (P/N: W53312) as a possible alternative to the Toyota or Moog parts, but with no history of anyone installing them it was not confirmed they would work.

I found that Energy Suspension sells the bushings. They do not list the 05 up Tacoma but according to their site, the bushings fit the 03-12 4Runner & 07+ FJ Cruiser http://www.energysuspensionparts.com/alsofoundin.asp?partid=W53312

A little research shows that the Toyota & Moog part numbers are the same for the 4Runner, FJ & Tacoma bushings, all interchangeable. I decided to give the Whitelines a try.

Visually the bushings look great & appear to be a match to the Moog’s

So far it looks as if they are going to work :woot:
Until I went to install the bushings :( The Toyota & Moog’s go in ¾ of the way by hand & need to be pressed in the rest of the way. The Whitelines wouldn’t go in by hand at all. Figuring they are just a tight fit, I tried using a ball joint press, still no good. I compared the O.D. of the Whitelines & Moog’s.

    Moog large bushing
    2.173
    [IMG]

    Whiteline large bushing
    2.224 - .051 larger than the Moog’s :(

    Moog small bushing
    1.861

    Whiteline small bushing
    1.905 - .044 larger :(

They also have P/N: W53393 which is listed for the Toyota Hilux. When I called for the return, a rep confirmed they had notes in their system that these would not work on the Tacoma.

I was hoping this would be a viable alternative to the OEM's or Moog's but it's safe to say Whiteline is out

I don't mind. I got all the parts together including moogs for that reason & energy suspension took them back without a problem.

besides it's nice having a second vehicle for times like these :D

Glad they took em back. Someone needs to come up with a complete solution for us. No second vehicle is always my problem.

I sure was hoping they would work. Those bushings were a bitch to get out, I was able to press 2 of the 4 out. The other two came out with an air chisel.

I suppose if we add greasing the bolts and sleeves to our yearly maintenance this can be avoided.

    Anyone hear back from Moog?

    Hey Kevin,

I installed the Whiteline polyurethane bushings into my LCAs when I rebuilt the front end. I didn't/haven't had any issues with the bushings.
