What would be better...

5100's set to 2.5 or set to 1.75 with a spacer to get you to 2.5"?

I ask cause I hear the 5100's ride rougher at 2.5.

With the spacer in there is will ride rougher aswell so just save some money and set it at 2.5 or go get some new springs and achieve the lift that way

It will ride rougher than stock but still like a truck should. You can go with oem linear springs off base model shocks with the lift and it'll ride a bit smoother or go with aftermarket coils and small to no lift on 5100s. The thing that'll irritate you going 2.5 will be the lack of caster without getting UCAs to get caster back. The wandering without enough caster will be worse than the ride with TRD progressive coils and 2.5 on the 5100s.

I have a crap lift... 2.5? 3"? Front spacers with 1" rear blocks, stock bilsteins... I bought it like that, Absolute junk.

300-350lbs in the back driving to Maine last month, literally rear end bottomed out and front topped out over every large over pass on the freeway. You can hear the upper ball joints slamming at the end of up travel every time.

I don't think people realize the issue with front spacers, they cause the front struts to act as bump stops (they are not designed to take nearly that kind of force), and they cause the top ball joints to bind in top of travel. Real bad situation, I honestly think they should even make them.

I am going after replacing rear blocks with AAL and good shocks first, then saving for front ICON's or similar and UCA's.

I had originally lifted my 1st gen Tacoma with coil spring spacers in the front and the ride was so stiff I bought new complete coilovers as soon as I could afford it. This gave me a much better ride and I liked driving the truck again.

I've now got 5100s on order for my 2nd gen to level it out. Coil spacers are junk in my opinion.

Installed my front bilstein 5100's over the weekend set at 0.85" of lift and the ride didn't stiffen enough to notice. The dampening is much better than stock though. Measurements from wheel centre to fender are 21-5/8" for the front and 22-3/4" in the rear.

I have installed both 3" coil spacers and bilstein 5100's.
The coil spring with the spacers was a PITA to install... Think 10' 2x4 as leverage on the lower control arm to get the bolt holes lined up.
The height looked great... Rode like a pile of shit and the Upper control arm rubbed the coil springs when going over bumps.

I bought 2 front bilstein 5100's from Essex distributors(canada) for $99 each shipped.
removed my old springs and put them on the 5100's. No more clunking and a much better ride... sure i lost half an inch but It was well worth it. Also no more rubbing the coil spring.

I know this is an old thread, but I don't understand why people think the 3" Revtek rides so rough? Of course I'd LOVE to have Bilstein 5100's eventually and plan to some day soon strictly due to it being better mechanically wise for your Tacoma's components, but the Revtek isn't THAT bad. Honestly, if my suspension were any smoother I'd probably fall asleep at the wheel every time I drove it. Is it a Caddy? No. Tank? Definitely not. It's fairly cush compared to some lifts I've had on vehicles before and they were coil-overs. Will I say its an amazing quality lift? Absolutely not, but its not a tank by any means.. Not ruffling feathers though, just putting in my experiences.

Maybe I'm just partial cause I am ex-military and I know what riding in a tank truly feels like...

Anyways, I'll now let this thread fade back into thread abyss..
