Question do you have to install new uca's if you install coilovers ?

i want to buy the Walker Evans 2.5 Non-Reservoir Coilovers 0-3.5 inches. but 1st i want to know if install these do i have to install new uca's as well? somebody told me i do but it doesnt sound right to me. is it recommend to do so or do you really need to do it for the walker evans to work. i plan on setting the coilovers to 3 inches. he told me anything over 2.5 will require new uca. is that true? if it is true how hard are uca's to install do the require any uncommon tools to install? any help would be greatly apperciated. also i am new to this so please forgive my ignorance on this subject. also it is very important to me that i do the install myself. thank you for any help you can give

you dont HAVE to have new ucas, but once you go over 2.5 inches its hard to get your allignment right so it is highly recommended.

they arent that hard to install, i would do it in an hour probably. take tire off, smack the ball joint out of the uca, take the bolt out, place new uca in, place ball joint back in uca (or uniball, depends what you get, never done a uniball one) tighten bolts put tire back on and repeat.

I wouldnt go with the Walker Evens stuff. They have had issues with alot of folks in the past. Consider FOx, King, or Icon.

oh really? thanks for telling me that. everyone keeps telling me to order spindles since i have a prerunner but i think that might be to hard for me to install myself

Spindles arent that hard at all. You can install them in about 3 hours if you take time. maybe a little longer if you havent done it before. Its always best to have someone who has a little experinace to help you.

spindles are the way to go if your a prerunner. should be the only way IMO.

im trying to find a place that sells them and that will send them to a apo address which is hard for some reason nobody sends to apo. also there isnt many places that have spindles im looking for the camburgs. if i do spindles do i need new shocks too?

you can get camburg and keep your stock shocks, upgrading them in the future is never a bad idea though.

Hey, Im kinda jumping into this thread, but I am having a lift problem that I was wondering if anyone knew the cause of.
I put the 2.5"-3" strut lift on my 02 and now it leans to the drivers side about 1.5" lower than the pass side.
My first thought was the upper control arms, but I hate to replace it, and that not be the issue.
Has anyone had this issue before?
HELP!!!

Beerye. You have the "taco lean" although I'm not sure if it applied to first gens, on 2nd gens we install a 1/4" spacer on top of the strut.

I thought about adding a spacer just on the driver side, but it is over an inch difference! I don't want to add a huge spacer, though if there is a underlying problem that needs to be taken care of. I have heard that the driver side spring is softer to help with the ride quality, but the struts from top to bottom are the same length.
