Camburg UCA squeak

I have an annoying squeak coming from my left UCA. I did my research and tried lubing the uniball and bushings, and greased the nipples. No luck. There was a bit of rain these last couple days and the squeak went away, but now that it's dry again, the squeak is back. Any suggestions?

How long have you had them? Uniballs will start to squeak. If you want quiet you would have wanted to stay with an upper ball joint

I had to give mine a few pumps every day for like 3-4 days until they were good???? I have the ball joint one's and they should be maintenance free but they still need lubbing! As long as the bushings don't looked damaged, I'd just keep giving them more for a few days!

Going on 4+ years with my Total Chaos UCA's, and they are still nice and silent....

I've had the same problem. I use http://boeshield.com/ on the uniball and it seems to work pretty well. Although at this point everything else in my truck squeaks and rattles so much I don't really notice any more...

Im not easy on them. Ive had wet concrete dry on them, had them submerged in a lake for 5 + hours, and had mud on them. I dont wash them very often, and lube them once a year....if that.

in my case (with 'burgs) its the uniball. i grease the bushings once a year (ish) and i lube the uniball whenever it squeaks too much.

Hard to tell without being there. One thing is you do not want to lube a uniball with a "wet" lube. I use a dupont teflon wax stuff that is "dry" and it keeps dirt from sticking to the lube

It's hard to tell myself. I can hear the squeaks going over small bumps, but I can't recreate the sound by pushing down on my truck. I tried using teflon based lube, but with no luck.

However, the rain seemed to do the trick and made the squeak go away for a bit. Any ideas on this?

undo the uni ball from the spindle and source the location of your squeak

You're correct, however. You can use a wet lube, let it pool up at the uniball, let it sit over night. Then wipe the top and bottom clean.

Wet lube is sometimes needed for pesky uniballs.

If that doesn't work, check to be sure all your spacers are in good condition, if they edges are damaged, it can tear the teflon liner.

What are you running for a suspension lift? On coilovers, sometimes the rod-end bearing will make noise. That bearing is a smaller version of what is in your UCA.

After about 60K miles on the arms without ever greasing the UCA Bushings, I started to get this rubber noise when the suspension cycled. Sound was similar to stretching a balloon. All they needed was some grease. I took them apart added grease, sound was gone!

I put mine through hell, and they only complained when they were dry. (After Rain or Dry Weather)




All that dirt was on my truck for a month. (Working in the mountains during the winter. )

My passenger side lower spacer (spindle adapter one) is not in good condition. I bent it installing and fixed it so it doesnt grind but now it has a tiny gap and lets dirt in It was my first lesson learned, do not tighten the UCA on to the spindle with the suspension drooped

Ill admit, that happened to me, before I worked for Camburg. Well, I didn't actually do it myself, my buddy was working on one side, I was working on the other.

I'd get a new spacer! You're going to cut down the life of those bearings.
