Great! That was my thinking about the gap between leaves  and okay so I have a stock leaf pack with many miles on it and NO TSB but an AAL, and I want to take on of my leaves as a donor when I put the other pack on. How do I cut it to be ~3.75" shorter if I don't have any cutting tools?

I guess I could give two leaves to my buddy and mark them off, he's an apprentice welder at a local pipe shop.

Any other suggestions? Also my leaves are FLAT does that matter that the arc probably won't match?

Hey Doug have you ever used the 5 lug SUA leafs? I was curious if they could be used in place of the stock leafs because they have so much more arc?

Although they are Toyota leafs so I wouldn't expect much I guess

I read your other post about doing this mod and losing height. Crazy!

What was your process exactly? Did you keep the toyota main leaf and replace with 2 OMD leafs?

Finally got my springs in. The donor springs were from a 1996 Dodge Dakota. I only added 1 donor leaf to my stock pack. I was shooting to just get my Tacoma back to stock height, but I got a lot more than I bargained for.

    IMG_06181_zps7cfeb619_a775bd8a6ffbdcf23514513c1011decf150abae5.jpg

I think I ended up with over three inches. The good news - they ride fantastically. They are night and day more comfortable than the trashed stock springs. Now, I guess I need to do something about the front.

I have just one question - could I pull out the overload leaf to bring it down some?

It sounded like Doug built some and shipped them to him.

    Looking good.

Yes you can, that'll drop you ~1'' and not change ride or towing capability.

Are you saying one donor leaf from a Dakota gave you 3" of lift? A 3" AAL?

Sweet. I am going to figure out something to lift the front out, but glad that I have that option. The front stuff needs replacing anyway.

Yes indeed. Here is a picture of the assembled springs. Forgot to post it earlier. The new leaf is the last one. Right about the overload.

Have you sent him a PM? He's going through some personal things right now so he might not be able to get on TW.

Did you remove the overload spring? If so then that could account for lost height. And oh give it time, Doug is going through some personal issues. I'm sure when he gets his life back in order he will be more than happy to make things right.

If the ride height is causing you so many issues just swap back to your previous set up till you hear back from him.

    A few things
Would it be ok to put another overload spring under or over the stock one? Just temporarily until I save up for some expos. I'm just thinking that it would be like almost a 1 block. Obviously it would be harsh when hauling a big load but if I don't haul anything I'm thinking it might be ok. What do you guys think??

no I didn't. it was a full leaf pack I bought from him ready to bolt on.
the only issue with the ride height is that it was supposed to lift between 1.5 and 2" not lower it. it rides fine. swapping them out may be easy for some but not for me I paid to have these ones installed.
