    Hi,

I'm looking at purchasing a 2.5" spacer kit that was previously used on a 96 Tacoma to put on my 2008 Pre-Runner Access cab. I am buying this used (obviously) and the owner does not know any branding. I have looked at the available spacer kits on Toytec’s site and the spacer's seem to be the exact same part for the first gen and 2nd gens.

**I am aware of the recommendations that typically are against spacer lifts. I will openly admit that I am doing this fully for aesthetics so have no concerns with poor off road performance.

-Do you see any issues with using this setup on a 2nd gen?
-Do you know the size of the rear U-Bolts (toytecs site recommends 8.5" for length but does not list width/diameter/thread length etc). I'm hoping to pick up from the local parts store BEFORE I remove the stock ones for comparison
-For the front, will I be able to use the existing bolts on the top of the struts (are they long enough: from pictures it seems that the spacers already have bolts in them and i'm guessing these just sit on top of existing strut bolts and then have the nuts screw into the new bolts coming from the spacers) and can you confirm I will NOT need a spring compressor to perform this install?

pics attached of what I'm considering purchasing/installing

1st gen kit will not fit 2nd gen from what I've read on here.

Thanks for the replys. What is the reasoning the 1st gen kit will not work on the 2nd gen?

From toytec's site it appears that the 2.5" front spacer for a 2nd gen is the exact same part as the one for a 1st gen

    2nd gen 1st gen
This is the pic they show for that spacer. I'm not doubting you all, just trying to get a better understanding of the suspension differences.

That spacer goes between the spring and the top plate. The one's you posted earlier go between the top plate and your truck. Two totally different parts.

I can't attest for the 2nd Gen Tacomas, but I know the bolt circle for the three studs on the shock mounts is larger on my '04 4Runner than my '01 Tacoma.

Thanks for the clarification. This is what I missed! Top spacer vs coil spacer.

As I mentioned above, this is purely for aesthetics. I do not offroad. I use the truck on road quite frequently as a truck which is why I purchased the truck. I occasionaly (once a month) take the truck to some hunting land where I drive some dirt roads and mild trails.

It was time to replace the stock tires and I decided to go with slightly larger all-terrains for

    1. looks
    2. better traction at the farm as there are some rutted/muddy spots I need to crosss.

Now to suplement the look of the wheels/tires I am interested in a mild lift FOR LOOKS. I don't see this a much different then doing a BHLM or adding a satoshi grill etc. These things are for looks.

I've attached some pictures of my truck after the new wheels/tires.

Anytime. I have a coil spacer on my truck. It rides like crap, but I bought the truck with it installed. Currently saving up for some 5100's so I can ditch the spacers.
