revtek aal

Hey guys, does anyone know if the revtek 1.5" add a leaf will fit a leaf pack with the tsb? Can't seem to find the answer anywhere. The revtek leaf is 30". Thanks for any help!

 

I'm up in Canada, so I'm dealing with another off-road supplier. Anyway, they originally sent me leaf springs that are 36" long - which I still have and are obviously too l ong. If I cut these to 28" (same as toytec ones), the distance of the arch is 2.75"; which is the same as the toytec ones. I don't see how this wouldn't work to get me 1.5" lift that I'm looking for. What do you guys think?

 

I just got the leafs a couple of weeks ago and tried installing them yesterday. Called them back and they said they can swap them with the revtek ones. But it looks like the revtek ones are too long as well. WTF!!

 

The guy from the off road dealer told me they were 30" long, not sure where he got that number from.

 

Dude, we've been over this ad nauseam.

No one on this board can answer that question with 100% accuracy because it would be a guess.
It is likely however, that cutting that spring down will work for you, but no guarantees.

I already gave you all the information, dimensions, etc that you need.
The only thing I don't know is the temper (or brand for that matter) of your AAL as compared to the Deaver that ToyTec offers.

Your call.
Wait for the exchange to the TSB AAL or cut what you have.

Edit:
1. Is that 30" AAL symmetrical ?
2. What are the center bolt-to-clamp dimensions on your rig's TSB springs ?
3. Did you send a PM to member 4WD about minimum clamp to spring end clearances ?

I am thinking that 1-1/2" might be enough. Think about it, as the spring compresses, the clamp and AAL end move out (elongate) at the same rate.

 

Hey, I was wondering when you would show up. The problem now is the aal for the tsb they have is apparently too long as well, so no matter what I'll have to cut something. Seems like I can't get the toytec aal unless I order directly from them, which means high shipping, duties, long wait etc.

 

OK, do those checks on the dimensions for center bolt to clamp.

I just called my local spring shop (Oregon Auto Spring) out of curiosity and they said that 1-1/2" clearance from AAL end to existing clamp would be enough.

So if that 30" AAL is symmetrical and your clamps are symmetrical at 33" or more, then it should work.

 

Thanks for that info, my next problem is that one guy said they are 30", and another member here found out they are 32". I'll call the guy I'm dealing with and ask him to actually measure the leaf and see what he gets.

Another question that I'm trying to wrap my head around: Say I had the toytec aal that is 28". If I were to cut it down to 22" for example, would that give even more lift?

 

No.
Think about it.....all that would do is cause your main pack to work more before the short AAL kicked in to help.

The AAL bolsters your main pack and reshapes its arc. Making it shorter reduces its effectiveness.
Kind of like the underwire bra principle

 

My last order from Toytec was for a pair of AAL's, two 1/2 inch top plate spacers, and a Taco lean spacer. Shipping was about 60 bucks to Ontario. It came through Customs with no fees or duty. I had to sign for it at the Post Office but it didnt't cost any extra. I would return the other leafs and get something you know will fit. Where are you in Canada and who are you dealing with?

 

I live out in BC and I'm dealing with northshore offroad. That shipping doesn't sound too unreasonable, I'm surprised there were no fees or duties.

 

Member OZ-T has a full OME lift and lives in BC.
You might try PM-ing him and see if he has any supplier recommendations.

 

Sometimes you just get lucky. Post Office is nothing if not inconsistent.
