Dropped my tax stuff off to my tax man last week and he just called me back today. As I expected I will have way more than enough to do the mods I wanna do to my 2011 DSCB!!!! I have been researching til my eyes bled on what I wanna do. I don't wanna go crazy with the lift and I will only do some minor off roading so I decided to go with the OME complete kit and found Metal Tech 4x4 to have the best overall price, plus their kit comes with the new Dakar leaf pack instead of AALs. I went with this because I want the on road ride to be as good as the off road ride and every write up I read said the kit offers a great on road ride, as good if not better than stock. I want about 2.5" of lift and dead nut level stance. I will be going with 265/75/16. I'm sure Metal Tech will give me everything I need when I call, but these days people are trying to make every penny they can. So any advice on the setup, tire size and if Metal Tech is a reputable dealer and if they are straight shooters? Anything I need to add to the kit to get the results I am looking for? BTW, price for the complete kit with 885s is $1045+shipping(around $100). THANKS!!!

What coils are you going to run up front. The rear Dakar springs are pretty tall, and it can be tough to have the truck sit level with them unless you have an canopy or some other additional weight in the rear.

I was gonna run 885s. Too much? Should I go with 884s? I believe I was mistaken, I don't think its the Dakar leaf pack. Here is how Metal tech has it listed on their site OME-CS047R x2. Any help with this?

The 885 coil set will give about 1.75-2" of lift up front. Those are the Correct Dakar Spring packs for your truck. They provide about 2.75" of lift in the rear on an unloaded truck. This will give you a factory style rake, where the nose is lower than the tail.

I talked to them about this kit a couple week ago. If you want the back to be level with the front ask them to take a leaf out of the Dakar's. They offered to do this for me if I wanted them too

Ok guys thanks for the tips. Also I wanted to add, if this gives me other options, I am in line for the TSB at my local dealership. I have a 1.75" spacer up front and 2" blocks in the rear. I am wanting to do away with this setup and maintain a level stance and no more than 2.5" lift and all the right stuff to keep drive lines correct, no vibrations, and cv angles correct. I wanna do it right the 1st time so as to avoid future costs do to malfunctions. What ya'll think?

But there is no telling when they will get to the TSB, so that's why I was looking at a new leaf pack.

I am in the same boat as the OP, but I have a canopy on my truck. I was planning on 885s and Dakars as well. Should I expect to be close to level?

I didn't mean to thread jack, I just didn't want to make a new thread for the same questions.

People have been reporting 2.25 - 2.5" of lift with the 885's. The 1.75 - 2" for a double cab seems more what people have been reporting from the 884's.

You can remove 1 of the overloads on the Dakar packs for about 1.5" of lift, which usually makes the truck sit level with about 2.5" of lift up front. We do have a very small topspacer available that when used with the 885 coils will put you right in the 2.5" ballpark.

If you are going to get the Dakars, which everyone says DO IT. Then don't waste your time on the TSB.

Yeah, Mitch I think you're right, I think I will just bypass the TSB and go with the new leaf pack

Coil springs never seem to be an exact given lift height. And of course there are factors like if the vehicle is a Prerunner, 4cyl, Single Cab vs. a 4x4, V6, Double Cab. The weight of the vehicle can have a big difference in final lift height.

Well, like I said, my main concern is the level stance minus the "driver's side lean", and at least 2" of lift but no more than 2.5". And durable and reliable components.

Understood, I was using OZ-T's and Elwood's rigs as examples. OZ got around 2.5" of lift on his DCLB using 885's and Elwood got right around 2" on his DCLB using 884's. Neither had the spacers installed.

Your site says 1.75" of lift using the 885's and your competetor claims 2.5" of lift using the same coils. Since there's so much of a discrepancy between vendors, I just figured I'd throw out some numbers that members seem to be seeing post install.

885s should give you around 2 1/2" up front but the Dakars are going to give you more than that in the rear. http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/suspension/173193-2nd-gen-ome-dakar-hub-fender-measurements.html
On my 4Banger AC I got 3" from 885s and 3" from Dakars with a shell on the truck. I haven't had the shell off but OZ says it lowers his 1/2" when he puts it on.

Hmmm, ok. That helps a bunch, thanks. So I prob need to see if whoever I order from can remove one of the overload springs in the pack and maybe that will lower it enough to be level? Damn this stuff gets frustrating

Another option is wait out the TSB and put an AAL in the leaf pack when it's brand new. I ended up buying a new TSB pack from another member and did just that and it's holding up great so far. If you can get the AAL into the leak pack before it's broken in, it seems to really make a big difference.
