Whats the difference?

what the difference between toytec coilovers(gray coils for 600.00 ) with 5100's and toytec coilovers(the red ones for 740.00)?

 

The gray ones for 600 are adjustable on the truck. The difference is how they mount on the truck.

The coilovers for 740 have a top plate that replaces the factory top plate. The strut has a top eye that a bolt goes through to attach it to the toytec top plate.


The coilovers for 600 require you to reuse the factory top plate and mount to it as the stock shock does. Basically, it uses the standard 5100 replacement struct with the lock ring, but adds the threaded collar for finer adjustment, rather than then standard 3 positions for the lock ring on the standard 5100.

 

ya im a 1st gen but i would like to get as much lift as possible 3" preferable and yes i have a diff drop already

 

Either coil-over will give you 3 inches of lift and can be finely adjusted.

There are other options too. You can get OME coilovers, but they are non-adjustable. The amount of lift depends on the springs you use. The standard Bilstein 5100s have 3 different settings for the spring perch that allow you to adjust the height.

It just depends on what you want and how much you want to spend.

 

Wolfpack's right......the red ones are pre-built and will bolt right up. The grey one's you'll need to re-use your stock top plate and assemble yourself! The latter is what I have and any shop can assemble them for cheap if you don't want to mess with a spring compressor!

 

ya im trying to save money and go with a good front lift(upgrading from a spacer lift up front)... so i dont mind doing some extra work like putting them together to save some $$ but what i was asking was, is there any difference between the two after you assemble them? like ones rides smother or...?
