    An update: I thought about it a while and decided to call ARB about possible fixes. Hey, it never hurts to ask! :)

    Mitch at ARB says that it wont hurt anything to install it they way it is. If I didn't want that option, he said he had another rear leaf that he could take apart and send me the new section. I opted for that and just got the part via UPS today. No questions, no cost to me.
