I was watching this video for hints on how to install my front Icon C/Os. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdyE8VkIqPg

What is the purpose of loosening the front LCA alignment cams? Does it allow them to pivot more when the bolts from the LCA to the spindle are removed? Is the alignment messed with if loosening and re-tightening those alignment bolts?

Link don't work but I loosened the LCA bolts that secure it to the frame so I could remove the strut assembly, and anytime you mess with your front suspension it's a good idea to get an alignment.

Doesn't seem so bad really. There seems to be so many ways to do it. Some undo the LCA, others the spindle from the UCA, or the steering tie rod from the spindle.

All of those are just ways to make enough room to get the new CO in right?

Correct. Although it won't hurt to drive with a bad alignment for a few miles to an alignment shop so do what you gotta do.
