Lift Kit for a 2010 Tacoma

hey everybody,

I know this topic has been most likely talked about in 100 different forums, so i am going to be as specific as possible. I just recently purchased a 2010 Toyota Tacoma 4 Door. Automatic Transmission. 4.0L V6 TRD Offroad. Im thinking in the near future lifting it 3 inches. I have been reading all about spacers, coilovers, shocks, aal, etc etc. The majority of my driving will be on the streets since I mainly use my truck for traveling back and forth to school and work. I will be occassionaly taking my trucks thru trails, mudd, etc. Money isnt the biggest concern. I have been hearing a lot of bad things about spacers. So im willing to spend more to get good quality but dont want to spend too much on something i really wont use.

ok. Im getting the impression from reading a lot of different posts from different forums that getting a coilover lift kit is the way to go. now should i do an aal, or just get a whole new leaf spring pack.

 

I've had an AAL for 5 years now. It's held up really good. I'm just now going to install a whole new leaf pack, but that's primarily bc I tow.

 

i was looking at these lift kits plus a couple more. would something like this be for somebody that is doing heavy offroading. Im only going to be doing offroading here and there but mainly street use driving. so i want the lifted look, but also want the truck to be able to go thru mud, dirt, sand, etc

 

Get the OME lift kit from toytec...850 shipped..comes assembled and everything u need...I went with the 885 coils and 1.5aal for my tsb rear...I got 2.7" up front and I am 3/4" higher in the rear...I love how the truck looks and love the way the suspension rides...it's a popular lift kit and worth every penny

 

awesome dude thanks for the information and the advice. what size are you tires. being new to all this im trying to learn from the people that have been doing this so i dont make a mistake that will cost me a lot of money in the future.

 

also what would be good UCA's to get. ive been reading that they are beneficial to get.

 

Light Racing UCAs are adjustable, allowing your technician to dial in your alignment perfectly after lifting. They are also pretty affordable at something like $380 shipped off of Amazon.

 

And much like Gabe, i also went with OME shocks and 885 springs with top plate spacers, with 2" AAL. I think it came out alright!

 

i do like the way both of your trucks came out. what size tires would be a good fit for that lift

 

If money isnt an issue, you should get the full OME lift kit with 885s rear Dakars, and some UCAs, and get some 285/75/16 tires.

light Racing UCA's are the best IMO...I have 285/70/17 trail grapplers.

 

285s would be best i think. either 285/75/16 for 16" wheels, or 285/70/17 for a 17" wheel.

Or 285/65/18 for 18s

 

yea as of right now im in the process of saving up for everything. but im not the type of person that wont put something on my vehicle because its a little to expensive right now. for instance the spacers. i rather save up an extra thousand or so and get a nice suspension and UCAs rather then get something that wont last as long and just do the job for right now. thanks for everybodys advice. greatly appreciated

 

If money isnt an issue, I'd get some Icons ext travel 2.5's all around, UCA's and a new leaf pack! But, that is a great upgrade for the price....just depends on your use!
