I am in a debate with the Toyota field service tech over whether adding a third party (local spring shop) rear leaf spring will void factory warranty. Has anyone ran into this before?

You will not be able to get any Warranty work done to the leaf springs because they are after market. But no it will not viod the Truck's warranty.

I am trying to talk the Toyota Factory rep into authorizing having a third party (spring shop) add an additional leaf to my suspension 2+1 leaf. As I have a regular cab it does not come under the TSB, though I have all the same problems, squatting under load, excessive body lean, wander, sway and undeersteer to a certain point. I would prefer the spring shop leaf to the Toyota TSB.

Have the spring shop do it, no harm done. Toyota will no longer warranty any items associated with your rear leafs but can not void the warranty on the whole truck. The only gray area you could possibly run into is say if one of your U-joints were to blow out. Toyota could point to the AAL, blame it on you for altering the drive line angle and then you'd have a fight on your hands. Legally, they'd have to prove that your aftermarket part caused their part to fail.
