Never rode in one but I'm sure they're charging a shit ton for that "package"! They F'd up by not giving the raptor a run for the $.......they could have went bilstein internal bypass (like Ivan stewarts rig) and a simple SUA stage 1 like Defines but that's a whole other topic.

I'm repeating myself, but again you are propagating erroneous information.

"Off-the-shelf" refers to the shocks as they normally come from Bilstein valved for the Tacoma. I am not talking about "off-the-shelf" shocks for Chevy, Ford, Dodge, or any other vehicle.

Toyota engineers spent many hours with Bilstein engineers under real world conditions tuning the shocks specifically for the ride they wanted from the Baja.

If people want to trash Toyota and the Tacoma on a Tacoma forum, at least have your facts straight.

No manufacturer has to "PROVE" an aftermarket part caused the factory part to fail. They only have to state it is the cause, then you must prove the aftermarket part did not cause the failure in a court of law.

As a warranty administrator for 20 years, I have first hand knowledge of how the system works in real life.... not as it is stated to work in cyber-world.

Since I would like to get my facts straight and you know all the facts concerning the painstakingly made decisions that toyota and bilstein made concerning the valving of these mythical shocks can you please tell me how the weather was that day.

We understand you like your truck and wanted a truck already built to your needs besides what you added on, but you need to be realistic in defending yourself. You brought yourself into this thread, I am pretty sure whipper did not PM you to defend all the baja trucks.

    David K = ATRAC
    TEricksen = Baja

I think most wrote off the baja model since it was showcased in the color red in almost all media advertisements and the sticker is pointless but on the black model you have it is a nice looking setup.

Lol are you on Toyota's payroll? You sound like the fucking brochure.

I bet my off the shelf 5100's and Camburg setup rides thesame, if not better, than your "special, custom, super - duper, Baja valved" setup does.

They're just 5100's, dude. Get over it.

All shocks will compress and rebound differently based on temperature. What is your point?

It is fact that Toyota engineers and Bilstein engineers valved the shocks specifically for the Baja, and the valving is not the same as the "off-the-shelf" models. Again, what is your point?

Nowhere does this discussion address which is better for any particular purpose, only that the shocks are valved differently, and there is nothing mythical about it.

My only point is that there are differences, and nowhere have I stated that the differences are better for any intended purpose. I have only stated that the Baja suspension works very well on the street, the truck rides better than any 4 wheel drive I've owned in 30 years, and the shocks are not "off-the-shelf" units.

Again, I do not understand any of your points.

I agree the black is a much better look, I am still on the fence regarding the graphics package, but I do like the unique look.

    In theory, you are correct.

The process starts by a failure. The dealership then makes an educated decision based on their highly trained factory technicians diagnosis.

If the highly trained, factory certified technician states that the failure was caused by the modification, good luck fighting it in court.

It will end up in court, and attorneys get expensive.

Please show me where I have stated that the Baja package is better or less expensive than any other possible suspension combination.
