Assuming I have a Bilstein adjustable lift with 1.5" AAL in the back, At what lift height setting do I need to install new UCA's? Are they necessary at 2.5" of lift? Can I get 3" out of it?

Also, is a differential drop recommended assuming this lift?

If I decided to go with an OME system instead, Would the OME system require UCA's and/or a diff drop as well?

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
Pass 2" starts getting hard to get it back in spec on your alignment but I seen some people with Bilstein set at 2.5" that didn't need any new UCA but at 3" you will need aftermarket UCA's.

    Efffff!

There's really no getting out of having to get new UCAs if I want a noticable lift, is there?

What I'm gathering is that you can go to about 2" max, safely, without new UCAs. Is 2" even noticable, and does it provide enough room for 33" tires?

Anything over 3" you'll need new UCA's for proper alignment. Diff drops (assuming you're a 4x4 obviously) are crap on a second gen tacoma because all it does is actually rotates the diff rather than dropping it. I didn't use one and my cv's look fine.

I'm ok with going to 2.5" without UCAs if it means I can run ~32" tires or so. I have a 4x4 by the way.

@Bridgcat - your truck looks awesome all blacked out. I was interested in doing this with a TX Pro before I opted to save money and get the SR5 (more practical). How much lift and what equipment did you use on it?

Thanks man. Actually you can run a 32" tire without lifting at all. Mine is actually a TRD Off Road that I threw a set of TX Pro wheels on. The lift I have is listed below.
    1. Icon extended travel reservoir coilovers.
    2. Icon 2.0 rear reservoir shocks.
    3. Camburg uniball UCA's
    4. Dakar rear leaf springs
    5. U-Bolt flip kit
    6. Timbren bump stops
    7. Beef taco carrier bearing drop

The total lift cost me around $3,200 if I am remembering then about 600 for the install of everything. There are plenty of great lift options out there like toytec and OME but I decided to go with Icon because I wanted a performance suspension that I could hammer on a little harder if I need to. Check out my build for more information.

Nice - I like the TRD wheels too, and was going to black-out my truck, but I think I'm going to go another route once I begin my mods (just brought the truck home Friday). It's MGM as well (looks like yours is).

I don't really need a performance suspension myself - i'll rarely go off-road with it. I just would like a small lift to put larger tires under it. The BIGGEST things for me are: 1) to maintain ride quality 2) do not damage anything (ball joints, cv joints, etc.) and maintain alignment 3) Price (I plan on installing myself) - preferably no more than 800 dollars (incl. alignment)

The problem is that I have a Toyota Warranty for 100,000 miles that I don't want to void because I installed a lift that was too drastic so I'm trying to obtain a 2-2.5" lift without over-stressing other parts of the truck that Toyota may claim was caused by a lift. Has anyone experienced anything like this when lifting their truck?

    I have a 3" lift on my 4x4
It's a spacer upfront (Im broke right now so went cheap route)
2.5 AAL in rear with billies

No diff drop ....and alignment turned out good

All is good after 4K miles

Front is stiff.... Due to preload spacers......hope to afford billies upfront soon
Rear feels great, on and off road

No uca were needed for my 3" lift

Had a Toyota tech, look at my truck....and he says it all looks good to him....shouldn't have any excess stress or wear on components
