Bilstein 4600 versus Bilstein 5100

Does anyone know the actual differences between Bilstein 4600s and their 5100s. I know the Toyota TRD Bilsteins are not true 4600s, rather, they are made by Bilstein to Toyota specs and sell from Toyota for $33. Where the 4600s have an asking price of $60-70.

What makes the 5100 different from the 4600, extended length? Valving, if so, what are the valing rates of each.

Seemingly this information should be at Bilstein, if it is, I sure have not been able to locate it.

I agree with you about what information I have saw so far here about the differences, pretty skimpy and not based on fact. The one fact I have found out is that the TRD Bilsteins are NOT 4600s. So those of you who are considering buying "Takeoff" Bilsteins, DON"T.

They won't give up valving specs because they're "TOP SECRET", proprietary specs, that they spent hundreds of hours developing. But when speaking to their offroad sales department, they do let us know that the 5100s have "additional" valving in them to accommodate the added pre-load on the coils springs.
