First Gen 3 in lift install

Hey guys, after much research i had come to the conclusion on what stuff i was going to purchase for lifting my truck a total of 3 inch. So i decided to start last night at about 7 PM and stopped for the night at about 1 AM. My dad and i planned 4-6 hours for complete install well we were off by maybe 10 hours . We started on the rear end by installing the leaf springs and found out that shackles and front leaf bolts were frozen in place and after beating the bolts for about an hour we torched and grinded the bolts off. I did not order new shackles for the rear which i should have but i never thought everything would be so hard to get out. Then i found out i needed longer u bolts i asked All Pro Off Road specifically "Do I need longer u bolts? i am going to buy new ones anyways do i want them like 1/2 in longer?" and i got this reply "You will not need longer U-bolts for the install. Stock U-bolts will work fine." Well needless to say the stock U-bolts were about 3/8 in to short they will work but the nut only threads on half way so i was kinda pissed about that because i have to get the truck done by sat night i live 200 miles away from my parents so it would be the only way to get home. So i will try to get some more pics and final pictures of the lift it seems like it is going ok i am glad i have my dad to help idk how people do this shit in there driveway.

- 3 inch lift leaf springs (AllPoo)
- BillStein 5125 (AllPoo)
- Longer brake line (AllPoo)
- 3 inch front spacer (ToyTec)
- Front dif drop (ToyTec)

as for that diff drop, mine didnt really help as much as id liked. but then again my coils settled alot too...

 

did you get new coils? were using a strut and coil or coilovers?

 

I got longer Ubolts for 1.5" rear lift so it's common sense that at 3" you needed them and for AP to say no was dumb. If you live in a place prone to rust you need new main eye bolt and shackles. I live in CA so mine all came out easily and they "look brand new" according to my mechanic.

 

so i would have to disagree with the common sense part as lift hight doesnt always mean longer ubolts. you could put a 6" skyjacker spring and its still only like a 3 spring lift so stock ones would fit.

but now saying that, ubolts are stretch bolts so you are suposed to change them out anytime you remove them.

you can usually pick up some cheap ubolts from autozone but i usually like to upgrade to thicker ubolts and do a ubolt flip at the same time.

hey sorry i havent updated the thread i will when i get back to my house with some pics i have to say if you guys can stay away from all pro do it i am kinda ticked with everything i bought from them the only thing that works are the billstein shock and betts springs neither of them they made or touched lol

really? where did that word come from i have never heard of a "expo" and i am in the automotive bussiness

 

So i finally got the pics off my phone and posting up here the man in the picture is my father. He is grinding the bolts that hold the springs to the truck because they were froze into place.

 

Well mine work aswell but a bolt should be long enough so that 2 or more threads show past the nut mine come to barely the end of the nut
