Tore My Bumper Off

Not sure where to post this. Took the taco off road for the first time yesterday. Ended up getting stuck bad and tore my front bumper off. Its safe to say ill never do that again! What im wondering is what should I do?! if im going to spend the money to replace it, should i go ahead and get an aftermarket bumper? Should i buy a new one and get it matched? Try to put my old one on? The fog lights connection is broken on the bulbs. i needed to replace my entire fog light assembly anyways.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

 

seems like a great opportunity to get an aftermarket plate bumper, perhaps with a winch for those times you get really stuck. keep your lights and wire em in to the new bumper. sorry man

 

what'd you do to rip your bumper off? and id go aftermarket if you also have the cash to upgrade front suspension to compensate for the weight

 

Or get an aluminum aftermarket bumper and don't worry about the weight

If you don't off road very often, the aluminum version would provide plenty of protection.

do any of the aluminum builds allow for winch mounting?

 

be careful with a plate bumper too. ive seen road armour bumpers laying on the ground from recovery straps. 2000 dollars down the drain. grab a winch if your ever gonna be wheeling without another truck. otherwise just use your factory tow hook. i built my own steel bumper and i chopped my frame and everything just to make it as absolutely strong as possible. far stronger than a road armour and i still wont anchor a tow rope to it. spooky spooky. haha HAPPY WHEELING TO ALL.

 

I believe so. Check out Relentless and Aluminess. For more hardcore wheeling, I'd definitely go plate steel. It's more plyable than aluminum and more likely to bend rather than crack. The OP said he rarely off roads and, if weight is a big concern, the aluminum is a good option. If you are a rock crawler, there's really no replacement for steel.

 

I have the toytec ultimate lift. I didn't even think about the steel bumpers being heavier. I need to order one soon. I'll keep doing research! Thanks
