I have no lift, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Lowering tire pressure may help soften the ride a bit, but that will cause the tires to wear unevenly, and that ain't good, especially with tires that cost $150-$200/tire. Also, lowering the pressure will cause worse handling in corners, which is negating the handling improvement of getting stiffer springs/shocks.

I measured h/f on the front of my truck and I'm 24 1/8...isn't this 3.5" of lift? might be time to take the top spacer out!! My CV's look stressed a bit too, or at least the fins are touching, here's some pics.

Yup, getting it taken out very soon. I knew something was up when I parked next to another Tacoma at work that has a 3" lift and 33's and my front was higher with my 32's.

I have another question on the rear. I have the wheelers 3 leaf progressive pack installed on top of my tsb pack (7 leafs total) and I'm looking at all these clamps that the installer put on it. I think they overclamped my shit with a clamp on almost every progression. Is that right?

That should help with axle wrap

2nd gen Dakars have 3 total as a comparison

okay, thanks. I have 6 total on each leaf pack. Do you see any adverse affects of so many clamps? My first thought would be limiting flex.

Possible that you would limit flex , although the look open and not bolted tight , more intended to keep the leafs aligned IMO

You could pm Old Man Doug , he would have some input http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/member.php?u=19185

That's true 2 are closed and the others seem as you said to just keep them aligned. Thanks for your help OZ, I'll hit up OMD and run it by him as well.

Did the ride ever soften up to more of your liking? I'm debating on going with a OME lift but I really like how my TRD Sport rides now. I don't necessarily want a suspension setup that will make it much stiffer.

Add a bumper and winch... then you have your ride quality back.

I have the 885's and nitrocahrgers along with the dakars in the back. Mine rides rougher than a cob. My tire pressure is higher, which would account for some of it, but it is WAY stiffer than stock. I've got about 10-15k on them now. IT's loud and harsh on the road and terrible off road. I may lower my pressure and see what that does.

Why would anyone expect the 885's to be less stiff than the stock coils ?

I didnt expect them to be as soft as stock. Stock was so light I was always bottoming out. I keep telling myself I need to get plate bumers and a shell to add some weight and make the ride improve........ I just cant convince the wife of it....

    Michelin M/S 2's.

I need to go check the pressure. Looked on the tire and I am pretty sure I have them above the recommended pressure. I'll do that once the wife leaves. That may account for a bit..... :D

....Not above pressure. I'm running 36 in three of them. I may have a leak in one of them. It's only running 23 lbs or so.

Just throwing this out there since tire pressure came up. I run 25-28psi all the time in mine. Anything above 30 makes the ride less desireable. Running at 25psi hasn't had any negatives that I can see (other than maybe a small decrease in fuel economy, but I haven't even noticed that). I got 60K miles out of my last set of tires, and I'm sitting at 47K on my current set with life left in them. So the lower pressure hasn't made them wear faster. And the ride is so much better.

OP curious what you ended up doing. I’m wrapping up 210,000 miserable miles with 885/Nitro combo and trying to decide what’s next.
