Those of you running 886 coils w/out a plate bumper or winch, is the ride up front harsh or do you see CV issues now or in the future?

I am on the fence... do I buy the 886 in anticipation that I am going to add a bumper in the future, and live with a harsher ride due to the increase in spring rate w/out the extra weight. Or do I go 885x and than when the bumper comes I can add a top plate spacer if need be.

My short term NEED is new tires. I'd like to go from the 265/ 65s to 275/70/ 17s on the stock wheels. I'd like to get that done before the snow flies but who knows. The bumper is a want... perhaps a NEED down the road about a year...

Truck is an 09 DCSB V6 4wd with 30K on the clock, w/ TSB on rear springs.

885s will give you around 2.75" with out a plate bumper then add a spacer when you get the bumper.
886s will give you too much lift without a bumper. 886s are for ARB bumper & winch.

incorrect, i have 886x on a DCSB with no "armor" other than sliders with no issues, it is stiff, yes, but not harsh. No CV issues, no vibes.

i installed spidertrax spacers, even with a BR UCA, without spacers, the 285s would rub severely. there is within .75-2" of clearance throughout cycling the tires lock to lock.

Can't remember off the top of my head but I'll measure tonight and post the specs for you.

And right now I'm running IFS and mid skid (still haven't put on my t-case skid :spy:)

Edit: my front bumper is aluminum which really helps reduce the weight

885s would give 2 inch or the 884s?

I know the 885's for a dclb give roughly 2.5-2.75 of lift without armour. So i think overall with armour your looking at maybe 2-2.25". Depedning on how heavy the front bumper is (arb vsrelentless/allpro ext. vs aluminum)

You can add a spacer if it sinks too low.

2" with your armour and 885's ( assuming steel bumper )

Thanks oz. Dont think thats going to be enough room to run 255 tires without having to trim alot. 886's are back in the lead in the coil race :p

FWIW I'm moving to 886s in the near future. I'll still get you the specs since I'm curious too.
