I dont know if this is the right place for this thread or not, but does anyone have any experience with an ARB locker. Would it be in my beniffit to put one in my prerunner sport that has LSD? Is there any draw back of having one? Do i need an air compressor? Are there other brands i should look at?

I have a couple ARB's in my jeep.

Since you have an 06 - and the mechanical LSD.... You can't have both the LSD and the ARB. If you put the ARB in - you'd be removing the LSD completely.

Yes, you need some sort of air supply to operate the ARB. There are a few different ways of doing it and they all have different pricing & advantages/disadvantages.

Do you offroad a lot with your Pre-runner?

Getting an ARB is expensive. The locker itself can cost $700+. And because you're changing the differential carrier, will probably require you to buy new gears. With all that - the installation of the ARB, gears, & gearing setup can get VERY expensive. I'd highly recommend having a professional installation simply for the longevity of the gears & the locker (and the investment you have in it).

At this point - you're looking at $1000 or more for an entire setup. Is it worth that much to you?

I knew I couldn't have both LSD and the Locker, but wow. I didn't know just how pricey it was. I don't off road much now here in california, but once i get out of the AF in a year or so and move back to Idaho I plan to. I guess I will wait on that idea. thanks
