Suspension?'s all the threads are confusing

Ok I have read threads for 2 weeks and get more confused with each 1. I have an 08 dbl cab sr5 trd offroad(73,000mi) 4x4 that I want to lift 3 inches. Im not an offroader so its basicly for looks and keep solid ride on road. Im looking at either the bil 5100 kit for 700$ or the ome kit for 300$ which will be acceptable for my needs. Trying to stay under 1000$ with tires so Im leaning on ome kit.

 

Im not sure of any OME kit for $300, maybe a spacer kit is the only way to meet your price range with tires but your ride will suffer.

 

By bilstein lift do you mean the toytec ultimate with bilstein shocks? You can just get billies all the way around for around 350. Toytec I think is around 700. OME is more like 1000... I'm not sure where you are seeing a 300 dollar ome kit. Tires alone can cost up to 1000 dollars, so yeah if you want to go cheap get spacers but that's not a good idea

 

I have an hs buddy that has a tire shop so tires are going to be 400 tops after I cut up his deer for him so Im saving there. Sorry didnt have time to put that into og post. I saw a kit on toytech that has coils and all the part plus an aal for 300(299), it was an ome kit. Ive learned enough on here to know Im not doing spacer type lifts, and I dont want to cut anything so Im going to run 265/75/r16 firestone destination at's. I considered just putting 5100's all around but figured at this milage might as well put on coils if Im going to put on all new shocks.

 

I would say get the 5100's with the 885 ome coils, Im sure your buddy at the tire shop could put them together for next to nothing. Get you around 2.5 in the front with a nice ride for around 600 or so

 

If I purchase just the billies5100 do they come with all I need for install. And is it better to go with an aftermarket coil or just stick with the stock coil? I really want to try and tackle the install myself so simplicity is also something im loking for. I have access to all the tools for the job, I just want to start learning such things.

 

Yeah you can just get billies and set them to up to 2.5 inches of lift and reuse the stock coils, but that ride will be a little stiff. If you can I would get new coils like some OME or even eibach coils

The aal depends what kind of stance you like, Sitting a inch or so high in the front, level, or with that factory rake. Just to be clear with the aftermarket coils, With Ome coils set the 5100's to the "0" setting and Eibach set to "0" or ".85" max. Any more could damage the shock.

Also, you may need to new UCA if you go 3 inches to get your alignment correct.

i like the factory rake, ill think about new coils for awhile before i pull trigger on anything

 

So is doing 5100s all the way around a good set up? or 5100 in from and AAL in back better?

 

885s & AAL, $230 (without coupon code, without shipping, need new ubolts).

 

If you can fork over the money for 5100s front & rear go for it. I ran 885s & 5100s @ 0 and it rode pretty good, with a 2" AAL in the rear.

Rear 5100s do not give any lift. If you are wanting to actually lift the rear end, get an AAL. Ideally you should get all 4 5100s and an AAL, which will give you a bit of a lift. Even better, get new coils up front, like OME or eibach.

 

Mayhaps waiting until you can afford it or just upgrading to better shocks for now and getting an AAL and coils for the lift later when you can afford it. That way you can get that solid ride on road that you want and since you don't really need ground clearance for bigger tires you can complete your lift when you can afford it. Just a suggestion bud. If ya break it up in pieces it'll cost ya twice for shipping but you won't have to pay for it all up front and will be able to afford to do it right the first time and never mess with it again.
