AAL vs. rear blocks?

hey everyone. i have an 07 4x4 double cab shortbed. i know that i will be getting a toyotec 3'' lift in the near future. i have decided to (unles someone persuades me optherwise) to go with the medeum replacement springs in the front, but i am still debating on the rear. like most of us, the majority of my driving is on the road, but i hit the trails as much as i can. (not much lately since i'm busy with college). i am jsut wondering abotu the main differences in the two...i'm assuming that the rear blocks keep a stock ride and the AALs make the rear siffer. is this true? i don't mind if the stiffeness changes or not. also, a poor colleges studen doesn't have the money to pay someone to install a kit for them, so since i will be doing it myself, is either one easier to install? and the last wuestion is, is there a difference on the wear they put on the components of your truck?

sorry, i forgot one more question.....will i need to buy any other parts other than what comes with the lift? or are there any parts you reccomend?

 

A block will be easier to install than the aal. The aal will make it slightly stiffer but won't let your axle wrap as much. Unless you do a lot of towing, burnouts, or racing just go with the block.

 

I would go with an AAL, for there is more pros about them. The block will cause axle wrap and could break. The AAl will make it a little stiffer but you will increase load compasity. Everybody I've talked to, has told me to stay away from blocks.

-You will need a diff drop kit If you go with a 3" lift
- It also wouldn't be a bad isea to go with Bilstein shocks all the way around for a better ride quality.

 

i don't know if it makes a difference, but i forgot to mention that i have the rear spring tsb already. will that affect anything? also, if i don't get new shocks, will i have problems with them fullyextending? do i need longer travel shocks, or is it purely for a smoother ride?
