I need some help with my front suspension height please

So my front suspension consists of bilstein 5100 with eibach coils set at the .85 setting. I also have 3/4" spacers from toytec in there. I installed it today and got 4" on the passenger side and about 3 3/4" on the drivers side. Everything is seated properly and I used threads on TW for the install so I'm pretty sure I did it correctly.

I decided to try and get a full 3 inches so I bought the 3/4" spacers thinking thats what toytec puts in their 3" bilstein set up. Can anyone confirm the spacer size that comes with that? Or am I wrong?

Also I guess I'm confused on how to figure the actual finished height. By my calculations bilsteins at .85" with eibachs 1.6" and the 3/4" spacer should give me 3 3/16" of lift. Am I wrong and if so can someone give me a quick run down on how to figure it correctly?

I also have the .25" spacers which are NOT installed and I may consider putting those on instead because it seems a little high and I don't want to destroy my CV boots and joints. Will the diff drop really help me out? I'm kinda reading mixed reviews on it. Or a Relentless bumper

the type of spacer your lookin at does it sit on top of the whole shock assembly between the shock and shock tower?

 

I believe you'll get twice the spacer height, like 1.5" for a 3/4" spacer. That would bring you to the 4" you're at, which is too high to have good CV angles and other things.

 

you are correct sir the spacer sits on top of the top plate between the top plate and the shock tower. So it would be relatively easy to remove

That makes sense. Should I put the .25" spacers on instead? Would that give me 3 inches?

 

I'll defer to those here who know more than me, but I think you get 1.6" from the coils, plus 0.85" from the shock setting = 2.45". Add another 0.5" from the 0.25" spacer and you get 2.95" total.

 

i would avoid the top plate spacers and use the 5100s at a higher notch to gain 3 inches. with eibachs that should be more than enough and if your 4wd you dont wanna go more than 3 inches

Now question for the OP are you 4x4? Also first or 2nd gen taco? Dont go above the 3" if 4x4. If first gen the eibachs give 3" by theirselves.

Sounds like that is about as close to 3" as I'll get. I just want it to sit as level as possible. I'm not a big fan of the rake.

isn't .85 the highest setting you can go with the eibachs? I guess I could do without the spacer and get a smaller AAL

I have a 2nd gen (2010) and yes 4x4.

 

My opinion would be go with the Billies at .85 with the eibachs and do the smallest spacers on the drivers side to compensate the lean. You are looking at about 2.5" of lift at that point.

I have changed out the springs several times and am doing another set this weekend and never use a spring compressor...

I use a jack under the LCA and the shock tower. I do NOT suggest this unless having done it before or have somebody there that has.

Although there is a youtube video showing the general idea.

 

haha ya I've seen a few of those videos. I did half of the first one with a 1/2" ratchet before I realized I still had my work tools in the back of my truck and used my dewalt impact for the rest and it worked out great. I thought about trying it that way but this is the first time I've done any work on suspension so I figured I should probably pass haha.

 

ok so I took the 3/4" spacers off and put one 1/4" spacer on the drivers side for the lean correction. both sides are now level but I'm getting a total of 3 3/4" of lift. Does that sound right?

What am I doing wrong? How much will this lift settle?

 

Well I thought the garage was somewhat level but I guess I was wrong. I parked it out in the street and got 37 3/8 for a total of about 2 3/4" of lift. Ultimately I think removing the 3/4" spacers was a good idea. thanks for all the help guys

 

Also remember when it comes off the jack your suspension isn't loaded. So moving it helped it settle.
