All I hear are a bunch of "No's" .... OP you can put any coil on that measures up dimentionally, it can be slightly taller but other factors have to match up (I.D./O.D. , etc;)

They wont fit. Trying to make them fit would create a dangerous situation. many people on here have tinkered around with suspensions, some have even made their own springs (Doug :p), so you should heed the advice. All we are trying to do is help.

hmmm, not the area i was thinking of, anyway, by not fitting i think they were talking about the spring being (possibly) a different length, ID, OD, and pring rate.

OP I misread , I thought you were just talking about using a diff coil spring on an existing strut, if you're talking about a coil over, then I'd say too much geometry to figure in to make it woth it probably, as far as results I'd say you'd end up with a truck that would jump around like a pogo stick with serious "Toe-in", maybe to the point of being dangerous,

I had to....:notsure: I don't have the $$$ for them thar fancy store bought sprangs...:p

    Here's a 2nd gen OME 883# coil next to a stock 1st gen TRD 4x coil...

^ I'm not positive but wouldn't that just give a little lift and not hurt anything else? ^

Exactly, this is a legitimate MOD . The OME 2nd gen spring sits on my 1st gen Tundra 5100's (see, the Tundra 5100 isn't spec'd for 1st gen Tacomas but work very nicely, .. & its safe)

The OME gives me 3" lift in front without the pre load, therefore no harshness related to pre loaded struts..

Now using Ford /Chevy etc; leaf springs on the rear is another matter tho' do it all the time..;)
