Hey guys. This weekend a buddy and I installed the Toytec 3" adjustable coilovers and 2" AAL and new Bilstein shocks in rear on an '09 Prerunner.

We installed the front coilovers on Saturday. I drove it around and other than it being nose up it rode wonderful.

On Sunday we installed the rear AAL and new shocks. Now when I take off I have a minor vibration until I get moving good. Is this okay and normal? I have read and searched where its mainly a driveline issue.

My question is.....Will it be okay for me to drive around like this? Will me getting a Tom Woods solid driveshaft fix this issue?

If its not an issue and its okay to drive I can deal with it.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I believe it is your drive line angle that is causing the vibration. I am not a 100% sure but I think you can flip the carrier bearing to correct this. It is either that or shims. I am sure some one will chime in.

You can drop the carrier bearing about 1/2" or so and see if that works, or use some shims under the leaf pack. 2* is optial, but 3* are more readily availible. A ine peice drive shaft will also fix the issue.

The carrier bearing is that the housing where the two peice drive shafts connect to each other?

If so that seems pretty easy to drop with the proper equipment.

Where is the best/trusted place to order a Tom Woods drive shaft? I have googled but nothing stands out as "the" place to order one.

Any specific site that is a trusted dealer?

I have a Tom Wood's. You can buy a single cardan style or a double cardan style. The double cardan is worth the extra money. You may or may not need to shim to get the rear pinion and driveshaft at 0 degrees, or 1 or 2 degrees negative to allow for axle wrap with a double cardan style. You can just install it and drive and see if you are cured or not. Then pick up a $4 angle finder to measure your setup if you aren't smooth as glass.

A single or double cardan style does wonders for take off shudder.

Don't know, he couldn't make DC long bed driveshafts for awhile, but now he can. Worth a phone call though.

Just called the guys you mentioned in this URL.

They said they are not sure about the pre-runners. He said it has to be flange to flange in order for him to make a shaft.

Does anyone know if this is how the pre-runners are set up? Or do I have a flange yoke to reverse slip? The guy said if its a flange yoke to reverse slip there was nothing he could do.

It doesn't look like you have flange to flange in my manual.

It seems to be hit or miss as to what trucks have vib issues. I have lifted a few and none of them have had vibes. I havent dropped my carier bearing, or shimmed my axel, and I have 2" rear lift, with no vibes.

Chris hit the nail on the head, I have a toyetc 3" lift with rear block and haven't had vibes, I did install the drop kits.

You could easily use longer bolts and washers instead of buying the drop kits. $.02

    Hey, Darrick,
I have found a 3* shim to be too much in most cases. Any idea of if there is a 2* or 2.5* shim availible?
