ARB lockers and 4.88s front and rear, OME 886s, Dakars, etc., Safari Snorkel, 17"Fuel Revolvers w/ 35x12.50r17 KM2s, fenders cut 3" all around, Pioneer AVH-P4400BH w/ Backup cam, CB/PA (PA Installed), Weathertech Digis, Foglight anytime, AP: front bumper, skids, and pack rack, custom sliders, Warn 9.5XP, dual VIAIR 480Cs with a 2.5gal tank, OTRATTW switches galore, URD y-pipe, RCI skids, LF 240s, etc.
If you have OME post a pic or two & tell us what you got.
    Check out my build!
What did you put up front & what did you get?
886 coils on OME w/ trim packer and top plate spacer, didn't measure before and after
What did you put in back & what did you get?
Dakars, didn't measure before and after
Are you running trail armor & how much lift did you loose or what did you do to regain/maintain lift?
Not yet but my truck is going to start gaining weight like a pro!
Tire & wheel specs & rub or what you did to eliminate rub.
Tires: 285/70R17 Toyo Open Country AT
    Wheels: 17" Fuel Revolvers w/ 4.5"BS
I cut the fender liner on the front and cut the bottom corners of the stock bumper at an angle. Still rubs at full flex somewhere...I just don't get out to look...

Are you still running a sway bar?
    Yep!

    2006 DC 2WD TRD Offroad

    285/75/16 E 10 ply Toyo open country AT @35PSI
    FJ Cruiser 16" TRD wheels

Front :OME 885x coils with 5100's set @ 0" with 1/4 " top plate spacer on drivers side.

Rear : 5100's with 2" AAL No TSB

Rides a little better than it did with stock coils pre loaded. The jury is still out on the AAL

The ride is definitely on the Harsh side compared to the stock ride. Almost feels like it could bounce you out of control of road is bad.

But then again it is a truck. As a daily driver it is going to need a little tweaking in the comfort arena. I will report back.

It's interesting that OME specifies the 2885 springs to be used if a Hilux has a bumper/winch combo to result in 30mm (1.2in) of lift, while here in the US, it's specified for a Taco without a winch/bumper, and even though the ARB .pdf says it's supposed to be 1.75" of lift, we all get 2.5" with the 2885's.

The curb weight of both is almost identical.

Must be because they know we (maybe stupidly) like our trucks to be lifted as much as possible regardless of whether or not it actually hurts our ride (downtravel loss, vibes, cv's etc.) while the Aussies are more concerned about a well-functioning off-roader.

Just been doing some research the last few days, thought I'd share.

The 885's aren't specified for trucks " without a front bumper and winch " , they are specified for up to an additional 110 lbs up front

They can be expected to give 1.75" of lift with 110lbs added to the front

Don't add any weight and you're bound to get more height

Thanks OZ. From what I've seen on here, 95 percent of people who are looking for an OME lift and have a double cab are pushed to 885's by default even if they have no additional front weight.

Just how most people say that you get the best ride out of coilovers at 2" of lift or less, it would make sense for vendors to fit vehicles appropriately and fit a spring that results in that same amount of lift.

I'm not looking for an argument or anything, what people want to do with their trucks obviously comes down to personal preference. Most people like getting their trucks up in the air the largest possible "safe" amount (2.5-3"), but there are those like me who just want what OME says they design their products for, better off road handling and load carrying capability, with lift just being a byproduct of that.

OME does just that :notsure: Is the only issue with the lift the fact that some vendors may not have a good understanding of what it will do in your truck?

I suppose that's correct. I don't have an issue with the company at all, I think they put out a great product at a reasonable cost.

I just thought some would be interested in the information I found. These guys in Australia who run hundreds of miles off-road at a time and do more intense and different kinds of off-roading than 90 percent of us go about lifting their trucks differently than we do and I think it makes more sense. OME kits for Hilux's and other International vehicles end up resulting in only ~1.5" of lift. According to their literature, OME focuses on ride/load carrying improvement while keeping ride height low enough for good downtravel, no caster issues and reduced risk of vibrations. This makes the kit effective and all you need.

Instead, we are by default led to a kit (885/Dakar) which further (IMO unnecessarily) reduces downtravel, flirts with needing new brake lines, and causes caster issues resulting in the need for at minimum $400 LR UCA's.

I think that if more people understood that the 883/4,Dakar-3rd leaf lift is more like what the rest of the world runs, and were honest about the fact that they would prefer a better ride and a savings of $400 over 1" of lift they probably don't need they would choose it.

    Yep. OME lift take 2.

EDIT: If I decide to get some new skids at the same time I'll probably go with 884's.

It will be interesting to see what you think about the ride quality difference as the coils are the same spring rate

Yeah I'm looking forward to it. It'll be interesting to see what happens as far as vibes go too. I had a minimal take-off shudder with my first lift, and a clunking that I think was the sway bar hitting the coil. I took it off before I could solve that problem.
