I've scoured this thread and I don't think this exact question has been answered. I have a 2014 DCSB 4x4 TRD Off Road. I just want to level the front end, but I'd rather not do an AAL or Dakar leaf pack. I recently put on 275/65/16 BFG All Terrain KOs, and that's a big as I need to go. I was thinking of getting the 883 coils, with 9000 front struts, and 60091 rears. Would that level out my truck without resulting in the dreaded bro lean? Also, I assume the OME shocks will ride better than 5100s in this configuration?

Save time and money, get the extended studs and 1/2" top plate spacer from Wheelers. Pull out the struts, get the studs installed at a shop, then reassemble with the spacer.

I thought that the 884's would give you the lift to level out since you have the DC. I know the 885's give a double cab roughly 3inch's of lift with no armour, so the 884's have to be either 2.5inch to 2 inch, but I don't remember which one. I think its 2inch lift to level, again I could be wrong.

As for the comparison with the billies, the whole thing is that the OME springs are made for the shocks, so they are designed to work together. On the other hand the billies are a very good shock, and many people use them with the ome springs with no issues, but they are not specifically designed for the ome springs. Really it all comes down to how much of the above matters to you, or how much you want to pay. Don't know if there is much of a price difference.

hope this helps you, or I hope someone chimes in to correct me to help you out

This is how my truck sat when I was running 884s with 5100s with rear TSB. Pretty much level.

That truck looks about perfect! I figured the 884s would be best paired with the AAL, and since I was hoping not to mess with the rear leafs, the 883s would be best for front only level lift. When I measured my clearance center of wheel to bottom of fender flare, I got 1" of rear rake (I may have measured incorrectly). But as you can see from the picture, it looks higher than that.

I think 2.0" of front lift would be level, but 2.5" would give me a bit of bro lean... so then I'd have to get a 1.5" AAL, and I'd be back to factory rake, but with a lift. I wasn't able to find any threads of anyone who did this exact OME lift configuration with my exact model of Taco. But Tacoma World can be pretty intimidating that way...

    Thanks for the info.

I dunno man, there's a lot of hate for spacers here on TW!

I just imagined Roy Batty saying that to me... "I want more travel, father."

If I'm going to do a more budget approach (as I originally intended, before being seduced by the siren's song of OME), I would run 5100s all around with my stock TRD springs and set the fronts to 1.75".

OME complete kit w/ 885s on Nitrocharger Sports, 1/4" spacers, Dakars w/ Nitrocharger Sports, LR UCAs, 265/70-17, Duratracs, G4 Elite tonneau, Weathertech Window Deflectors, Weathertech digital floor liners, factory JBL/Entune, rear differential breather relocate.
Lots of folks on here running that set-up. It's pretty solid. I think the front will be a quite a bit smoother if you go the OME/883 route though. Pre-loading the TRD Off-road springs using spacers (not the top plate ones YOTA LOVER was talking about) or 5100s is not a good idea from what I've read. They're progressive rate springs and don't like to be pre-loaded, get really stiff compared to the SR5/TRD Sport springs.

Im just not sure how much lift the 884's give, 2 or 2.5 inches but la0dog sat pretty much level with 884's and billies so I guess that's 2inch lift with the 884's.

Nothing wrong with the billies, as stated lots of people have this setup

I know, but as Oz and BJ have explained, top plate spacers (used in moderation, .5" or less) aren't the devil. If the goal is to level the truck on a budget without ruining the ride that's the cheapest and quickest way. If you can get the rake down to 1/2" it is almost imperceptible.

Of course, I will always recommend a full OME lift if the budget allows.

The OME shocks and coils are $680 from Wheelers, which is a very reasonable price for good quality suspension that will ride great and last a long time under tough conditions. It looks like that's the route I'm going. Thanks for everyone's input. I'll take measurements and pics once everything is installed, in case anyone else is interested in this type of setup.

You'll be happy. OME is excellent, and a good choice!

do you think the 884s with the OME 90000 sport shocks and N182s in the rear (with only TSB leafs) would produce the same result?
also, what size tires are those?

The nose may be a little high until the 884s settle, IMO.

One more question (yeah, right). The OME shocks are almost $200 more per set than the 5100s - are they really that much better? Tons of TW members use 5100s with OME springs and seem to like it. The 5100s have a lifetime warranty whereas OME has a 3 year warranty, so that would mitigate in Bilstein's favor. Neither shock appears to be rebuildable. If I spend the extra dough for the OME 90000/60091, I'd be getting something more than just shocks that say OME, right?

You're 100% correct, and if I didn't buy the kit I would have been in your shoes. However, the one thing the OME shocks have over the Billies is that they are specifically design to mate with the OME springs.

Just did my lift this weekend with Nitrochargers front and back, 886s and Dakars, and stuck an ARB winch bar on. I got a full 3 in of lift in the front and about 4 in the back (I have planes to stick some stuff on back there and balance that out). I was going to put on LR UCAs, but Toytec sent the wrong ball joints so that will have to happen later. I still have to do an alignment, but I figure I'll do that after the UCAs.

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but I'm not sure where to find the answer and I don't feel like sifting through the hundred odd pages of the thread. After the lift I have been getting a faint vibration right around 70 MPH, but nothing below and very little over 75. Could this be an alignment issue, some sort of drive line vibration, or something completely different?

I didn't have the foresight to measure the angles before, but I measured with a digilevel after and got 6.5 deg on the forward section of the drive shaft, 9.5 deg on the rear, and 86.0 deg off of the diff flange, so 4.0 deg on the diff shaft. That makes 1.5 deg difference between the angles on the forward and rear U-joints. Would that be enough to cause a vibration?

Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!
