    Good Afternoon,
I have a 2 wheel drive crew cab 2012 Tacoma TRD. I want to add a lift and put larger tires on it.....and yeah its 2 wheel drive [IMG] I am new to this...and didn't know which product to go with , or if it made a difference for 2 wheel drive. I am looking at Toytec Part Number OME3-05-884TOPAL or would I have to go wth the more expensive Part Number MAX4-KIT?
I have been looking at 17 inch wheels and 285/70/17 tires, but am unsure of the backspacing on the wheels I would need to get to resolve clearance issues. Of course I would like to go without spacers....don't want the street queen's fenders beat to heck. Would that be an appropriate tire size for either of these lifts with no spacers and the right wheel backspacing?
Sorry to ask so many questions, but as a new guy to this idea I am a little lost.
    Thanks,
    Mike

^^ Plenty of threads on this. Try the search (third from right) in the navigation bar. After many hours of reading, you should have a pretty good idea of what you'll need for your specific application. You found this thread; bound to be some good info for you in the 178 pages.

If you still have questions, post back and I'm sure one of us can help you out.

I have the same question, got a 13 off-road model and wonder if the stock bilstein shocks and struts will work on a 3" lift. I don't plan to go off-road being that it is a 2wd, I plan to put 20's with a 285 on it. My truck is brand new only 3k on it so I would like to keep the stock shocks if I can. From what I have read the OME kit is the best option, but do I need the big kit or not.

OME replaces the shocks and springs, sounds like you are looking for a spacer lift. They are cheap, just keep it on the street if youre ganna lift with blocks.

4.5" backspacing, 285/70/17 will require some trimming most likely. If you dont want to take the chance of rubbing then stick with a 265/70/17 which is closer to a 32" tire, that size will work with stock wheel specs and no spacers. 285s require different wheel specs or spacers with stock wheels.

You're talking about the stock leafs with an AAL, right? If so, I would say it's likely normal. AALs are really just a band-aid for the crappy stock leafs.

looks like it might be the stock springs, not sure what standard rear they are talking about. I saw ARB and made a assumption:

No , he's talking about the Dakar overloads , I looked but couldn't find the article I originally read that in , I believe it was in the ARB / OME literature but now I can't find it

No time to read all 179 pages so.....

Is there a thread with install help/tips of an OME lift.

With the 886 coil and an ARB,winch, beefy skids will I really need to worry about the UCA?

How much lift should I expect with all that weight on the front?

Toytec has some decent illustrated instructions: I'll defer to the pros on the technical questions though....

Anyone know where to find the torque specs for the front end of a 12' when doing a full ome lift including uca's? Thanks. Also I tried what the guy did in the video a few post back and couldn't get my lca's to pivot down enough to feel comfortable. And then thinking that the ome's are going to be fresh and probably longer, how the heck could I expect to get them back in. The lca's are all but unbolted and I don't feel good forcing them down. Any thoughts?

After the cam bolt is loosened, you need to have someone push down on the LCA while you're pulling it out and putting it back in.

A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.
    1. Loosen the cam bolts.
    2. Use a bungee (or whatever) to "hang" the spindle from the top where the upper BJ was before you removed it. Unbolt the lower ball joint. The LCA will swing freely at this point, and the spindle will be hanging from whatever you tied it to.
    3. Install your new struts.
    4. Use a floor jack on the LCA to push it back up and install the lower BJ bolts (torque to spec).
    5. Blah blah blah, rest of the install.

This is how I did mine by myself, it was easy and fast.
