FWIW I have an aluminum front with winch which is probably pretty close to the same weight as a steel front bumper and my 886s don't feel too harsh. I know that harsh is subjective so not a ton of help. I wonder if the 887s will sag more over time with the lower spring rate and that much weight on them?

That's my concern. I feel like lower spring rate could equal sagging sooner over time but I've also read that 886's are harsh riding & I don't want my ride to be any harsher than it is. Currently sitting on stock springs and 5100's set at the middle setting for comparison for 'harshness' as this rides a bit stiffer than stock did but not bad at all. I'd like to find someone who had stock springs and 5100's sitting at the middle setting that went either 886 or 887 to tell me what they think of the ride now. I want to order everything I need right now so I can get this all on ASAP but I don't want to order a spring and then a day or two later find out I should have got a different one.

If you go with the 887s and start sagging, add a 1/4" top plate spacer... But that is just my novice opinion and no experience with 886s or 887s.

I was looking at RileySB's rig and talked to her a little about her 887 and 5100 setup. She is running skids and sliders with 887s and ended up right at 3" after everything settled.

Do a search for 887 and see who is running 887s and a bumper, then pm them, and ask about their ride.

    Good luck with everything!

I did search and I kept finding a string of conversations like this one from Dan @ Wheeler's Off-Road regarding the 886's:

That's what concerns me. I've seen a few mentions of the 886's being harsh and a few of the 887's on 5100's being smooth as bumper with a front plate bumper so it's got me leaning 887 but I'm just not sure enough to pull the trigger. Also, I'm worried about the front being too high for the rear as most leaf packs are designed for the 885/886 height front springs. I know it's only a few mm by the time it's all said and done but I just can't decide. Going through back issues right now that are made worse from driving in cars I do know I don't want harsher than I have right now.

I have OME dakars with my icon set up and want to bring the rear down a bit. I have the front coils set at 2.5" and the rear sits up a little too high. So it's raked towards the front. Can I remove a leaf on the dakars to try and level it up a bit? If so, does it make a difference which one? I know I can just crank up the front coils as well but I don't want to do it that way. Thanx for any advice.

I called Firestone to get an appointment and told them my issue. They said it was more than likely an alignment issue. They mentioned that if you don't have a print out to confirm the numbers, then odds are you probably don't have the numbers you wanted.

Will 887 coils be an over kill if I want to maintain 3" lift with a steel bumper, winch and skid plates?

The shop forgot to install the trim packer. I just measured and it seems to only be off by 1/2". Would you guys recommend taking it back to be installed? I personally don't see a difference. I'm taking it back anyway to have the CB drop installed (also forgot).

If you don't care about the 1/2" I wouldn't worry about it. If your bringing it in anyways and want them to, then why not. It wont hurt anything if you do or don't, its just really up to you and the time you have.

Yes, I personally would have them install everything the way you want it. If they're putting in the Carrier Bearing drop, they might as well put in the Trim Packer.
