toytec bk0510 driver lean spacer question.

Hey guys!

I bought a toytec bk0510 kit and i have a question about the driver side lean. the kit comes with 1/2 inch top plates when purchased for a double cab. i also have a 1/4 inch top plate to correct the drive side lean.

Now here's the only info i could find about how to install them of toytec's website;

note#1: Double cab Tacoma’s will need the top plate spacers to achieve an average lift of 3”, and will only achieve an average lift of 2.25-2.5” without the top plate spacers.

note#2 The ¼” top plate spacer goes on the driver side. DOUBLE CAB TACOMA NOTE: IF USING THE TOP PLATE SPACERS THAT ARE THICKER THAN THE ¼”. TO FIX THE LEAN USE THE ¼” ON THE PASSENGER SIDE INSTEAD OF THE THICKER TOP PLATE SPACER.

so if i understand; for the double cab i have to use the 1/4'' plate on the passenger side instead of driver and NOT use the 1/2'' top plate provided for the double cabs....why not using both 1/2'' top plate and add the 1/4'' on driver side??? Why do they even sell you two 1/2'' top plates???

did anyone as done that same lift on a double cab? and how did you do it?

Use the 1/2" on the driver side, and the 1/4" on the passenger side.

the way i see it is, if you are only switching plates sides, how can you acheive the full lift since toytec says you need that 1/2'' plate to get a full 3'' lift. if i only put the 1/4'' plate i'll still be short another 1/4 inch.

So why rouding down when rouding up would make more sens?

is that the kit you have on your truck chris? is that the way you went?

You dont want to stack spacer lifts. I have ran a lift similar to the toytec one, and used the 1/2" on the driver side, and 1/4" on the passenger side. 1/4" isnt gonna be noticable.

Thats a bad idea, as the torsional loading on the spacers can cause the bolts to come loose over time. Your risking failure of the spacers by doing this.

Im standing by chris......using the 1/4 on passenger side will achieve most of what u need since its the LIGHTER side.......use the 1/2 on drivers side since its heavier.

Don't stack spacers.

Call toytec if ya want......let us know what they say.
if they say to stack em.......then call Sonny at dsm, or Marco at 4wp.....tell us what they say

I'll give them a call to see why they rounded down on this...and why they didn't opted for a 3/4'' on drive side and 1/2'' on passerger side...it's just weird that they sell the 1/2'' plates for both sides when the kit come with the lean correction plate anyways...just weird.

i'll check back here next week after a call to toytec.

I am curious what they tell you. I called them and they are the ones that told me to do it. I have had it that way for a couple months now with no problems yet. I just checked if the bolts are loose and they are not. Please do post what they say.

That is the way the kit is setup. Some people have stacked the 1/4" spacer on the top plate spacer with no problems at all. If you want to return the 1/2" spacer we can do that for you. Give me a call at 303-255-4959.
