Cadillac had MR shocks in the STS since 1993. Ride and handling weren't any better than BMWs with conventional shocks, and that still holds true today.

MR shocks need to be wired up to some controller, which has to contain accelerometers (or interface with the vehicle's). This makes it difficult for an aftermarket shock mfr like Fox or King to implement. If Toyota does it, the benefits are lost as soon as you install aftermarket shocks.

I would like to see KDSS as an option on Tacos, though, since it doesn't rely on the shocks.
