it might. it might not. every truck is minutely different.

alignments usually get pretty close to stock. if any, vibes are usually at higher speeds, (55-65 MPH), and have minimal effect on tire wear.

I also don't understand the difference between a top plate spacer and a normal spacer. Sounds pretty self explanatory but I just don't know. I'll have lots of new knowledge when I'm done with this thread!

That makes me think that a 2.5" will be a better choice for me than a 3". Looks nice!

I see now! Thanks! A picture is all I needed!

That is going to be very helpful! Thanks!

did you need to replace your rear shocks as well? In other words, if I can get 2.5" spacers for the front and a 2" add a leaf in the rear and not need to replace rear shocks, that would be swell. Providing that setup won't give me any dumb looking lean

But the toytec kits say that they require new rear shocks. Do the wheeler's set not require new shocks for the back?

3" Toytec spacers, Bilstein 5100s in the back with add a leaf and overloads removed.
I have 3 inch spacers now. Ride like shit off and on road. I'm running stock UCAs and alignment is fine. Before, I had a 2.5 spacers for 5 years, rode way better than the 3. And I could clear the same tires with them.

Mathew, nearly all kits come with the rear shocks for a reason, and I'm a little suprised the Wheelers link from above does not include them, although at least they recommend getting new shocks. With a spacer lift you can continue using your oem front shocks as replacements, but when it comes time for new rear shocks you need longer ones. The Nitro 9000 rears at Wheelers are pretty good entry shocks for $72/pair... I've used them before. If I were you I'd get them with the lift.

I ran 5100's pre-top out extension incident, so they were stock length with my 2" toytec AAL.

it's recommended to get longer shocks. you really don't want the shock to be the droop limiter
but I wheeled those 5100's pretty good, never had a problem.

    "Bottoming out".

Topping out is when you over-extend your shocks.

Frankly, I think you're the first person I've heard who lifted their rear and still used oem shocks. I would think he would want the correct amount of flex out back and not worry about breaking the shock. Dude's already getting a cheapy lift, at least get some shocks that fit. $72 man.

Yeah I thought shocks would be needed. I was surprised when I thought to didn't need them. So now my list is 2.5" front spacer, 2" AAL and rear shocks. And the brake line just for good measure

Hey, he could remove the rear shocks entirely... I positively guarantee it is possible to do it! I am not so much talking about what is possible. I am far from some elitist snob and very much believe that there are time and places for budget builds, but I have my limits. Every manufacturer says get new shocks for a reason. Get new rear shocks that actually fit.
