All Eligible Factory TSB's performed. Sway Away Race Runner Adjustable Front Coil-Overs, Bilstein 5100's in the rear with Deaver 3703-K33 Leafs, Camburg UCA's and 4" Drop Spindles, Pro-Comp Extreme 285/75/16 Tires 33", on Moto Metal Wheels,AIRAID Cool Air Intake, Pioneer 6100 AM/FM/CD/Satellite Radio, HID Headlamps Hi-/Lo

I called the Toyota Customer Service 800 number and talked to one of the reps there.. I mentioned my (2) problems (Tailgate bent, and suspension problem) and even though I was armed already with the TSB's for both problems and ready to give them to hem, he offered me of the TSB and gave me a case number then advised me to call the dealership to have the problems fixed under warranty... I then called my dealership and set up an appointment to get new Leaf springs and a new tailgate installed... WIll update once the work is completed.. Thanx !!

Had the dealer (Puente Hills Toyota) replace my weak leaf springs today and it certainly made a significant difference in the ride and the ride height... Also they removed my bent tailgate and ordered the new reinforced tailgate for later replacement under TSB BO018-07. They will have the new tailgate ready by the end of the week. They will remove and reuse the internal mechanisms in the new tailgate after they paint it and install the badges..

This is all done FREE under the warranty..

Thank you guys for helping me out !!! Dave

Any suggestions as to what I should do now to level out my truck? The new leaf springs raised the back end about 1½-2" so I was thinking 2 or 3" lift spacers on the front... And if I was to do that, will that be all I need to do or what else does it affect ?

If you want an inexpensive leveling alternative, get some 5100's and set them to 1.75".

I decided to opt for the Front leveling suspension kit sold by www.readylift.com This kit looks like it will level out my truck without too much trouble. I can put some new 32" AT tires on her and get an alignment done and it will suit my purposes for the time I have the truck.

I really don't want to put a lot of bucks in this truck. I am waiting for the Ford Raptor SVT. My Father has one on order and said after a year he would sell it to me pretty cheap... Sorry guys... I need a tougher truck and the Tundra isn't an option anymore either..

I have owned Fords all my life.. Starting with a 1974 Ford Ranchero 351 Cleveland.. 3/4 ton bullet.. Had a turbo installed on it. Then had to sell it for financial reasons.. Bought a Ranger 4 Cylinder extra cab in 1980 and loved it, upgraded to the 6-Cyl 4X4 Extra cab long bed, lifted it and extended the suspension 4" wider... That truck would go everywhere... Never had a problem with it.. Had to sell the truck cause I got rid of the dirt bikes. Bought a 1991 Mustang 5.0 5-speed and kept that car for more than ten years, traded it in for 2001 4-Runner... What a POS that was.. Sold it and bought a Dodge Dakota, another mistake, always breaking down. Sold that and bought a 1999 BMW 325i than traded it in on my First ever NEW Vehicle... the 2007 Tacoma... I really loved the look and was told at the dealer it could do everything I needed it for... My first mistake was not getting the 4X4 version.. Otherwise it is a great truck and has loads of potential.. Just need to spend lots of money to make it powerful.. The gas mileage was one of the first dissapointments... MAX is 16 MPG...Towing is 8... The Raptor will get that easily with more V8 power, better towing capacity and a larger interior and longer bed.. In addition, the suspension is actually set up by Fox Racing already from the factory.. Wider stance... Check it out online... Best part is that Americans made the car... In this economy, everyone is buying elsewhere and wondering why the country is falling apart. I know that this isn't the only reason, but its sure a start.. It will be about 2 or 3 years before I get the new truck and I will be keeping the tacoma around until then.. Probably pass it on to my son.. It is a good truck... And I love this forum... You guys are great... I am sure you will teach me many things about my truck as time goes on..

Well, FWIW, more Americans had their hand building the Tacoma than they do building Ford trucks. Ford trucks are mostly built in Mexico, and Canada.

Gotta admit.. you have a point there... That is actually one of the many reasons I bought my Tacoma... Built mostly right here in SO Cal... :)

Actually, the new F-150 is getting great reviews. In fact it is the #1 rated full size truck on the market.

Take the plastic cover off the tailgate and see if it has a reinforcing steel rib along the top of it.
