I see there is a TRD Big Brake Kit but it seems to be designed for the X-Runner 2wd "sport truck". I think the stock brakes are about taxed to the limit on my 2012 Tacoma 4x4 truck with full skid plates, plate bumpers front and rear, sliders and a bed rack with a RTT. Add in 500 pounds of provisions and couple passengers and the brakes are not what I want if I need to stop quick.

I could buy slotted rotors and better pads for a slight improvment, but a true big brake upgrade is so much better. The TRD kit Sould be an easy job IF IT WILL BOLT ON. Anyone know if the X-runner is six lug or 5-lug?

    well there goes that idea.

I heard of guys doing a "Tundra Brake Conversion" on 1st gen Tacomas, but this is probably another low tech, heavy caliper, plain rotors setup (still a pickup afterall). Because a Tundra is heavier I have no doubt it could stop a Taco quicker IF it is balanced with the rears...

Bill, I wan't too see these in person if you end up grabbing them. Def interested in the 5lug bbk and the rear conversion, the overall ptice is mind blowing though.

Editc under a 1000 fit the 5lug, think I might do this sooner to whit than I thought:D

TRD sells a BBK for the FJ that is 6 lug. My concern would be if the kit is close enough spec wise for the master cylinder to stay happy.

From what I've heard over at xru is that a bias valve is needed to dial the rear in.

I have a nice high clearance rear bumper (Pelfreybuilt with tire swing out) being built and half paid for so far and now some tires headed my way, so brakes are not in the near future.... can only piss away money as fast as I earn it....
