Ok so just took the truck on a run to fish up north. The truck drove great but had one surprise problem arise that scared the shit out of me and I'll try and describe it as best as possible.

I first experienced it while exiting the freeway and the off ramp veered to the right gently. So as I exited and began to brake at about 45mph the vehicle felt like it locked up for a brief second and I had no control plus it made a chatter or shudder noise that I could feel up through the pedal. Perhaps the ABS, Auto LSD, TRAC OFF or VSC engaged?? Go easy I'm not good with vehicle mechanics myself. But I did read in my manual that any suspension mods or increase in wheel size could affect any of these systems. So as I continued on it was mostly flat highway driving until I reached the mountain pass I had to go over and then I experieced the same problem when decending and turning right with an occasional left turn. I'd say it happened about 5 times on the trip up then would occasionally do it through the weekend.

I am taking back in shortly but was wondering if anyone has any experience with this or can advise me of what the hell is going wrong. I don't think it is the Icons at all but maybe a result of the lift that could be causing a problem for one or more operating systems in the vehicle. But flat and straight she is perfect.

Thanks for the help in advance.

I think some guys are having to have the VSC computer recalibrated(if I remember correctly) after lifting and or going bigger on tires. Seems hit or miss. Also there is a very delicate data wire that is supposedly easy to damage during the install process that I've heard some chatter about on here. I couldn't find the specific threads I read but they are pretty easy to find I believe. I'm about to lift and am not excited about this happening. Let us know what you find out. Good luck.

Thanks I found some old posts and believe the VSC just need to be recalibrated. Really caught me by surprise though to say the least.

Is that something that can be done with realignment?

^^^^^ Thats correct right there, not sure why anyone would sell the standard ones so they could use their shocks as limit straps.

Just saying if your going to spend the money on good shocks and after market leaf packs you might as well pull the trigger on the correct length shocks to maximize travel.

Would bumps even have to be modified????

I am not sure that the bump needs any modifications, but I am sure it all depends on the pack.
Here are the measurements to the shock in question
    27 3/4 Extended, 16 7/8 collapsed

 Possibly 0.5" on the long side (just pulled this out of my butt from random measurements taken is the past so don't quote me folks).

Yep I would have totally went with the longer shocks and just screwed with the strike plate up top for an easy fix to prevent full collapes. Down the road figure out the proper bumps, stockers are garbage anyways.

    Oh well

The coilovers are bit more stiff then your factor struts, as a result with the smaller bumps your front end might not be as planted to ground as it was before. This can cause a small degree of slip in which case the ABS system is triggered, this is the vibration/sound you experienced.

Not sure why I'd experiecne slip on a dry highway road surface. I felt this problem while driving on the highway through a couple mountain passing and as the road would veer right I was doing no more than 40 mph when the problem would occur. I have searched VSC on here the last couple days and it seems to be a common problem for many unfortunately. Some re-wiring fixes have been posted one good one in fact by BensonX which I believe over rides the VSC completely shutting it off. I will try the re-cal tomorrow and see if it helps. I hope so.

I am running the bilstein 5100 rears with my dakars that come with the rcd lift. They have pretty much the same working measurements. they were more affordable than the icon rears made for the 3-4" rear lift.
