I adjusted my tire pressure to 28 psi, and also found out that the front shocks were turned on the firmest setting.. I softened them up and WOW what a difference it has made..

I feel it still needs some new shocks on the rear, but it is night and day difference to drive now.

    Thanks for everyones help.

    Blakk,

What do you do and where do you work?

I've got an 01 tacoma that I bought for my rig runner that I'm looking at doing a full icon suspension system on. The dirt roads up here in ND are brutal at times.

Don't get rid of the tacoma. It will be the best rig runner you'll ever own.

It sounds as if you've eliminated almost everything that would help except the rear shocks. The biggest help would be airing down to 15-20 psi when you hit dirt. Those e-range tires are borderline too much for your truck (I run them and probably got half a ton on you) Something like this would allow you to remove air quickly and easily when you reach the dirt.

And something like this would allow you to air back up to street pressure when you're heading back home and reach asphalt.

I do directional drilling in north dakota. It's 45 miles to a decent town. 32 miles of that is dirt road. I have found that if you just drive faster....it helps haha

Might as well grab a set of Ranchos for the rear too then, most auto parts stores have them or can order them.

I am a Wellsite geologist out in ND and just bought a 2013 Baja to replace my Duramax, and is not as smooth as I was expecting, but once you get it up to 60-70 MPH it soaks up most of the bumps, and if you hit a bath tub sized pot hole it will soak it up pretty well. So far I am really happy.

As an update... I've decided to drop about $1500.00-2000.00 into the suspension..

Can anyone point me in the best route? Complete with internet links and everything I would need? Do I just need coils an rear shocks?

Also I'll be ditching the shitty body lift.. So I need to make sure my tires will be fine.. I don't need lifted. I just need my tires to clear and be able to beat the piss out of this thing..

    Thanks everyone!

You don't want to beat the piss out of your truck I would go with icon coilvers up front and bilstein 5160 shocks in the rear

Appreciate the links guys.. I want the truck to of course look good.. Is it terrible for me to say the OME shocks turn me off because of the nasty yellow?

Do I need to order UCA's if I go for king/icon coilovers?

You don't need 'em but they do help.

They are something you can easily add after the fact.

And, it is a free country with choices. you don't like yellow, you don't like yellow. They are good product though. As are the Icons and Kings.

Perfect.. I'll end up adding them down the road I'm sure.. Will my tires be ok with just new shock if I ditch my body lift? (Size is on page 1)

Should be fine. Comes out to a 31.7" x 9.25" tire.

I ran (and many do run) 265/75R16 (31.6"x10.43") on the stock TRD suspension. I had frame rub on full lockout but you may be fine since the 235s are more than an inch skinnier.

you need it for over 3 inches of travel. Otherwise bumpsteer will make it really difficult to drive safely.
